The IAA valve is actually an entire unit made up of the IACV-AAC valve, the IACV-FICD solenoid, and the idle adjust screw. The IAA valve is located at the back of the intake manifold near the firewall. It has 4 screws holding it to the intake manifold, as well as a large vacuum line, and 2 electrical connectors. To help identify it a little better, the IACV-AAC valve is part of the IAA, and looks like a small electric motor with an electrical connector. Also, if you know where the idle adjust screw is, that is actually part of the IAA valve. The IAA can be removed with the engine in the car, but it is very tight to get the tools down there, and takes some patience. I removed mine once, because I thought it would help my idle problem. I cleaned it out, and tested it to make sure it was functioning properly. When I put it back in, it didn't make a bit of difference with my idle problems. I finally (mostly) fixed my idle problems when I removed my EGR system, when I was doing my turbo install. The car idles (relatively) great now.
By the way, if you can find an FSM online, they're priceless. It shows great pictures of the IAA valve and explains exactly what it does. There are a few FSMs floating around on the internet, but I don't remember the links to any of them. Good luck.
