what is the IAA? what does it do? where is it located on a 1990 ka24e hatchback? is it the air intake valve?:doh

Im having a really bad idle problem on my 90 ka24e, and i read in the 240sx.org FAQ page that it might be my IAA which i think they are reffering to my air intake valve but i am not sure. i recently changed the spark plugs and plug wires on saturday. i checked the spark plugs today and they were really black, is that normal?also, it boggs out when at a constant speed or even an idle rev, could all that be related ? a reply would be very appreciated,

the iaa is located on the left side of engine.on the back of the intake.I removed it and cleaned it and the idle chillled out.it also sounds like your motor is runnig rich.on the pre 91 i think you have an air/fuel mixture screw which is sealed by the factory.clean iaa & check all your vac. lines
