Okay Guys,

I am sure from my previous experience on my former enthusiast forums that my questions aren't new ones.

I need some I35 guys to step up and help me iron out a few questions that I haven't been able to solve with reading and using the search features.

I am now a proud (well kinda') driver of my wifes old car.

Background:I traded my heavily modded 00' Ford Lightning for a 05' G35 Coupe 3 yrs ago when single digit gas mileage finally outweighed my lust for tire shredding torque. So I am familiar with modding, just not on FWD sedans.

I fell in love with my coupe and bought my wife the 03 I35 (non-sport) and have been thoroughly satisfied with it's MPG and reliability. For HER it was a great car.

NOW that our little girl is 10 months old, the Gcoupe and I35 weren't adequate for our needs and Daddy traded in his toy for Mommy a new Honduh Pilot.

Soooo... now that I have spent a few weeks driving the 95K mile grocery getter, I know that it is time for some new shocks/struts along with many other details.

What is the difference between the base and sport suspension and are they interchangeable?

Is this an adequate swap or is aftermarket the best option? Keep in mind, I am not overall interested in lowering the vehicle, just firming up the ride.

Any help?

Well maybe I can refine the question so that someone else can help out that knows what I am looking for.

I see the Tokico HP's and Illuminas along with the KYB GR2's have been recommended.

Is the adjustability of the Illuminas worth the cost difference? Is there a preference with Tokico vs KYB?

I don't trust myself on a DIY install of shocks/struts, so I will be looking for a local installer.

Where have the majority of you been buying yours from?

i have tokico hp with stock springs and the ride is nice and firm but i don't drive with my 8 month old daughter in the nissan because it would beat the hell out of her if i searched more when i was replacing shocks i would've gone with illuminas because of the adjustability.

Thanks for the input.

Did you do your own install or farm it out?

i put the shocks on myself but that was at a my buddy's shop so i had power tools to use - saved me a bunch of $$$. i went with a pro shop to get my allignment done though - $40 which wasn't too bad.

it's not too hard to do it in your driveway and there should be a write up in the faq section i think - it'll take a little bit more time though.

dumb question,

do coilovers allow for adjustable ride height and dampening rate? Do you kill 2 birds with these?
