Gurus,
I have searched on these forums for an answer to my problem, but the parameters (type of problem, intensity and frequency of trouble) have not matched any existing posts. So here's my question:
While driving my 2001 I30 on the freeway, I sometimes hear a "Roarrrrr" from the front wheels. (It's as if I am driving on gravel.) I reduce speed, change lanes, and that gets rid of the noise for a few minutes.
Today I noticed that there's a cyclical "squeak" from the front wheels when I'm going at very low speeds (10mph or less). Quite worried, I hoisted the front driver's side on a jack and tried to jiggle the wheel in and out. Man! That thing was loose. I was able to change camber by several degrees simply by pulling and pushing with my hands. I tried to tighten the lug nuts but they seemed to be tight enough.
I repeated the "jiggle-in/jiggle-out" experiment with the front passenger side wheel. It was solid as a rock.
Also, while braking, I've observed the steering wheel to wobble.
So, does this mean my front left bearings are shot?
Car background:67k miles. All OEM brakes (25k miles old).
Thanks!
