2000 Infiniti I30

Most of the time the idle is where it should be (IOW it's not set too low), but about 30% of the time it just dies. When threatening to stall out, giving it the gas does help prevent it.

I had the injectors serviced, but that was all I could afford to pay someone to do. My possibly-wrong instincts suggest fuel pump / filter but since it runs great except for the occasional stall, and the filter is way in the back, I'm not so sure. I could just do that and see what happens. (Because they're old I replaced three spark plugs -- only the front three because I couldn't get the connectors off the rear three -- but that made no difference unsurprisingly.)

My question is what other components in fuel delivery might make it act act this way. Thanks.

When it dies, is the car warmed up, cold. The fuel filter is connected to the fuel pump.

Until now my reported symptoms were second hand. Now I'm driving it and have a better idea.

It's fine when cold. Once it's warmed up and no longer in cold temp high idle it dies pretty much every time the revs go below a thousand, such as when stopping at a light.

There are no problems at highway or normal speed so I no longer suspect the fuel pump / filter.

My cheap $100 code reader tells me there are no messages.

It has been doing this for a while. When I took it in they came up with a long list of things that needed doing. I couldn't afford them all so had the fuel injectors serviced. Why they didn't happen to do anything to improve the way it idles I don't know. You'd think they'd notice.

I downloaded the service manual kept at this site so when I have a spare hour will read up on fuel systems but all thoughts meantime are welcome.

You can check the throttle position sensor with a multimeter
