I've owned my infiniti for about a year now. Awsome car, 100,000 plus miles and drives like new. My question is why can't I find many performance addons? Are they just not made? Do they have to be custome made? Any info will help. I looked at the post with all the manufactures links but m selectionseems very limited for my car.

Any help is appreciated!

Welcome to NICO runamuckr.

Any of the performance bolt-ons from the same year Maxima will fit your I30. The only difference between the two is the body.

Thanx for the welcome Max.And thanx for the info. I'm not looking to race or anything but I'd like to get a few more horsies out of my infiniti. I plan on starting with the handeling of the car but any suggestions on a performance combination that might give me another 25 to 35 HP? Thanx again for the warm welcome.

The best HP to $ gain to be had is from a new y-pipe. It alone will gain you about 9HP and only costs about $200. If you do some searching (try archived searches also) you can find recommendations on handling upgrades.

Y-pipe, free-flow exhaust, and Intake will give up to 20hp. UDP and lighter rims will help free up some more ponies as well....

For give me for sounding retarded but, UDP? A definition would be greatly appreciated. And speaking of exhaust, I don't want that "fart can" sound. Any sugestions? Rims are being looked into first. Just because the stock look like something my grandpa would have on his buik. Some nice tires will follow. Any suggestions on a y pipe would be greatly appreciated.

UDP = Under Drive Pulley - lightened and smaller diameter crank pulley that frees up HP by decreasing the rotational mass on the crank. A popular brand for the VQ engine is Unorthodox Racing.

My personal opinion is that the Greddy SP2 exhaust sounds great for our cars.

For plugs, get NGK (OEM equipment);and I would recommend factory wires as replacements.

I got my y-pipe from this place in Canada. It was a couple years ago, you may want to give them a call.

Check out the Sponsor's Directory. Custom Enterprises and Sport Compact Only carry lots of goodies for our engine. Sparkplugs.com has plugs. And look to one of the OEM parts dealers (like NissanParts.org, InfinitipartsUSA, etc) for your plug wires.

I learned of the pulleys later in the day. In regaurds to the pulleys, since thier under driving my accessories, is this harmful or not? Less AC and what not? What am I giving up for a few more ponies??

There are really two options, a true UDP or simply a lightened pully. The UDP is lighter and will slightly underdrive the alternator, but numerous Max owners with after-market stereo's have seen no ill-effects by it. A lightened pully will give you the weight savings without underdriving the accessories...
