OK the back story, I was on the way home after replacing my alternator belt at work. As I get closer to my house I began to smell a burning rubber smell and the dreaded battery & Alt light gleaming again. The lights started to flicker and the car started to act crazy. Each time I hit the breaks everything went off. I finally get home and popped the hood a discovered that my brand new belt melted off. The cause I discovered that the long pivot bolt on the alternator came off. I replaced the bolt and belt again and now NO START. I attempted to jump the car with no success. The cranking sounds rather slow and the interior lights and head lights cut completely off. Please Help

You might have had a weak battery, and running it down that far did it in. You could try getting something rather large to jump you, and let it "charge" for a few minutes before trying to crank it.

...or you could replace the battery, which you'll probably have to do anyway.

Check your battery terminals for corrosion too.

Ok, replaced the battery and same issue. It doesn't sound like the battery had it's fool power although less dimming. It just doesn't sound normal. The crank/water pump pulley belt hasn't been installed yet could this hinder starting too?
