I30 light problems

Bought a 1998 i30 from a buddy it seems like my brake lights are my running lights andmy running lights are my brake lights when engine off foot on brake parking lights come on off with brake peddle the dinger dings like I have my lights on with foot on brake and door open as well as dashlights lightup at night wit lights on brake lights very dim and third light is alwayson andif you are using cruise control and turn on the lights it kicks the cruise off any suggestions where to start?

Without punctuation, it's difficult to understand what you're saying. But your best resource is the previous owner who most likely knows what happened to the car. Then you can refer to the link below - start with the Power Supply Routing and then move on the the lights, etc.

My bad was stuffing my face when I made initial post, my buddy is clueless, it has been worked on by say a high school votech class or something, all the lights work, when u turn the headlights on, all lights including third brake light come on, daytime with lights off, u press the brake brake lights come on as well as the front parking lights, at night with lights on, when u press the brake, brake lights come on but very dim, you can not use cruise control with lights on, works fine with lights off, turn on lights kicks cruise control off, it seems as if the running lights are wired to the brakelights, and brakelight switch is wired to the running lights,Where is the brakelight switch on that car?

It will take a while to undo what other people have done to your car in the course of their training. You need basic hand tools, a DVM and understanding of schematic diagram and wire color coding. Otherwise, you have to take it to a shop or get help from someone knowledgeable to work with you.
