Hi, My 2001 infiniti is stalling during idling and starts and engine revs up great. The dealer diagnozed as burnt " Idle Air Control Valve" faulty and leaking and I also need new computer. He quoted $2300 plus taxes and consumables. Is it worth fixing this car or is it really cost this much. Any help apprecaited. Please direct me to self help threads if available..Regards

You should be able to buy an IACV from NAPA (or similar). You can get a refurbished ECU from somewhere like http://www.autoecms.com or buy one from a junk yard www.car-part.com. You will need to have the new ECU reprogrammed for your car by the dealer. If you are mechanically inclined you can install the parts yourself.

I found an ECM available in local junk yard, which is from Maxima 2000 where as my car is '01 I30T. Will this fit in my Infiniti? Yes, I am mechanically inclined and I am not in a position to shell 2k+ at this moment. How to ensure the ECM's match? Dealer provided me a part # but ebay sellers are claiming Maxima and Infiniti carry same ECM but they have a different part #. Please clarify. Thank you for the fast reply.

From what I can find there is a difference between models with traction control and models without traction control. (Since the I30T comes with a VLSD, you'll want the one for traction control I would imagine.) The correct one from a 2000-01 Maxima should work.

You might try cleaning the IACV first. I will ohm correctly but if there is
carbon clogging it up it will affect the idle (up and down cycling)
I seem to remember one screw holding on a cover. YOu might use some
electronic cleaner. Also make sure it is getting voltage to it.
