Interesting that I drove my J30T for three years without a single claim on the extended warranty...hope this I30T upholds the tradition. The best part is running close to 100mph and absolutely no vibration...I will restate that I think this car switches to electric above 100mph. True Autobahn performer.

If I had an I30, I would be hanging out in the Maxima section since the two cars are practically identical mechanically. I was actually looking for a Maxima when I stumbled across my J30t. No regrets though because the J simply feels more like a "driver's" car with the RWD. However, in these snowy climes, being able to apply power to the steering wheels would be nice from time to time.

Why did you move to an I? Don't get me wrong, BTW, I have nothing but respect for the Maxima/I30. An excellent automobile.

100,000 mile 0 deductible warranty until 2006. Plus if you have sat in a Maxima and then in an I-30 it is a differant animal..also I drove the J30T for 3 years...was ready to change. Super car, just ready to change.

I took a new Maxima 6 speed for a test drive a few months back. There is almost too much power for FWD in that car. On some of my favourite twisties most of my input went into controlling the wheels. No drifting possible. The engine was great but in the J I can set up a nice balance. The Maxima was all input, input, input. After learning on RWD and then driving FWD and then returning to RWD, I will never return to FWD. AWD maybe.:) I had an Audi A4 Quatro for a month last year and while a very nice car, it was no J30t. I liked the AWD but it was almost too sure footed. The road feel is muted when all the wheels are pulling.

I have a 97 I30 with over 103k that is stock except for a little K&N filter and have no problems. Love the luxury and performance packaged in. Also like the fact that maxima mods fit right in. (thats when I get the money).

it's close relation with the max is one of the best things the I30 has going for it. that similarity equals cheaper parts and more aftermarket on everything but the body. you can get matching side skirts for the I30 but the rear and front lip would have to be a custom job..$$$.

i drove Tonyvq's 3.5 maxima and like VimyJ said, "too much power at the front wheels". not that's a bad thing but it becomes almost a chore when under heavy throttle. lots of torque steer and lots of broken traction.

then again the I30,I35, max(4th/5th gen) are awesome bang for the buck!

99 I30 with 23,900 mils on it. No problems except they have to replace my sender unit for the fuel gauge last week.

i30pusher, do you have to add couple of pad in the air box when you insatlled K&N filter or it fit perfectly like other replacement air filter? I bought one for mine but it come with the 2 pads and the install manual is not very clear on what to do.

Thanks

I bought my wife a 2000 I30t Sport brand new, on her birthday, in 1999. I had to order the Black wiht black leather. All I could find were tan interiors. She wanted the cold weather package (not an easy find in the deep south). I had it re-directed from Chicago, then to Nashville, then finally to Montgomery. It had 8 miles on the ODO, but about 1500 miles on rail, and truck (not to mention ship).

Love the car! Love the xenon lights, 6 disc changer, and heated seats. It came with the sill extensions and rear spoiler (makes the car look totally different).

Last year, I bought a set of 2002 chrome I35t wheels for the car. The chrome really pops on a black car.

When I have it in for its regular servcie, I usually get an I35 for the day. The I35 has way more power (too much, IMO). I don't think the car is any faster, because the gearing is different. At 80, the I35 is nearly 3,000 RPM, where the I30t is around 2,500. 0 to 60 seems much faster in the I35, though.

I prefer the balance of the 227 HP with the FWD, over the 270 HP of the I35. I don't find myself worrying about unwelcomed lane changes under WOT.

All in all, The I30t is a superb car.
