I am the new owner of a 2001 I30 and I love it! My i30 had the Bose audio system right now. A friend of mine has the navigation system from a 2002 i30 that he would sell me... Is the 2002 i30 nav unit compatiblewith my 2001 i30? Looking at pictures of the two dashboards it looks similar.

What would you think the nav system is worth? Where does one get a copy of the CD (it is CD not DVD right?)

Has anyone ever installed the nav system in an i30? I have installed amps and headunits before but never a navigation system... is it much more complicated?

Also, I am looking to commect my iPod to the new Nav headunit (if i get it) does it have an aux input or will i still ahve to buy the AUX-NISS adapter i was pricing out for my current unit.

I appreciate any and all answers/comments you are able to offer.

OK, so I am a big dummy... I just did some deeper research and learned that Infiniti never made a 2002 i30. I think my friend is confused about the vehicle he salvaged. So, it must be a 2001 that he has... and it should be compatible. Now i just need to know if I will be able to install it.

Anyway.. i would still really appreciate any info on how well the nav system works... if it is hard to install and where to look for the CD's... will it come with maps loaded? what is a fair price to offer?

-big dumb joe.

The I30 was retired after the '01 Model year and replaced by the I35 in 2002. Same car as your I30 except it came with the VQ35 and a few other changes.

As far as the Navi being interchangable, I'm not sure. Wiring should be similar as I am not aware of any major changes in that aspect. Most auto makers include all base wiring in every vehicle because it is more cost efficient than segmenting the assembly line.

I'm traveling the next couple of days, but will try and research this for ya as this is something I could also do in my Maxima..
