Well I still love my 2007 M35 Dark Blue Nav package ride. I added

kicker solobaric 10" sub
alpine amp
infinity 2ohm speakers all around
isimple ipod connector
Lexani 20" rims
magnaflow muff. with dual 4" custom axle back

They car really has plenty of power but would like a little more if worth the money and effort and not sacrifice in quality of sound, warranty, or gas mileage. SO the CAI i see limited gains on this forum from others maybe in sound but Irarely go up to 4-5k range to enjoy like I would in a stick or 4 banger. same goes for MD spacers where I heard mixed reviews on actual gains VS gas mileage loss

So I was thinking for gas gains and some seat of pants and flexibility for tuning just stick to uprev, maybe some lil more exhaust work.

upRev: Does it work well with just axle back increase in MPG with econ mode? any seat of pants gain in performance mode from just tuning shift, a/f points on stock setup ? feedback

Exhaust: add y pipe or possible ART pipe (i heard they smoke or really rice sound)

ICE: I was thinking of adding video input to GPS Nav screen (no tech package or DVD) so anyone add ipod input to stock screen so I can view controls on screen and control from iphone or other remote? Or just replace the dash screen/HU with aftermarket and still retain use of stock dash controls?

Brakes:I have the SS brake lines already hear ready to install now I was thinking since I need new pads and front rotors change out to the ebay ones and try them, the evolution set from brake motive and SS lines?

CAI: Is just upper spacer and z tube cheap and worth the nicer sound and no loss in MPG?

maybe just some input regarding what you currently have...

exhaust: since you have two 4" mufflers, you may be losing power in that aspect...unless you are pushing a ton of HP or have your car Force Induced, it's not recommended to have a large diameter exhaust like that... your exhaust may be hurting your performance. Going with a 2.5" size exhaust is good or if you are running a true dual, you can go with 2.25" each side from the cat to the mufflers. The Motordyne xyz pipe (Ypipe replacement)does add power/better flow.

HFC's: good addition - but the ART pipes do not have cats (they are modified test pipes) so you will get the fumes associated but will get the gains...

CAI: not really good gains, more sound than anything...also known to decrease HP...z tube and drop- in filter is good

Plenum spacer: good addition - will provide good flow thru the plenum. Also modified lower plenum (MRev2) good for top end

Uprev: will provide add'l power, efficiency and different maps to choose...

Sound system: from your list, I'm sure it sounds good...

Overall: by having a lot of weight added to our cars (sub, larger diameter wheels and tires, etc) and by having oversized muffler diameters...those may offset the mods for gains you plan to add.

I've added a lot of mods to my M (06 M35 sport) and I'm comfortable with the efficiency, comfort and noticeable power compared to how it was stock...

Thanks, I mis wrote my exhaust, I have 2.25 magnaflows axleback from mid pipe with QUAD 4" tips :)
I know 4" pipes would kill my car LOL

So HFC or mid pipe maybe if i have xtra $$$ around

but ztube, drop in and uprev would be best options for value without doing anything else

Question on the UpRev I see on their web they have a data logger $200 options and the standard $500 osiris. Does this mean for $200 I data log, send them the file then for $50 they can custom tune like the standard osisris or I still need the osiris to upload a ECU map?

oh ok...got it.. (exhaust confirm) yah, you're good there :dblthumb:

HFC's definately!! you can pick those up pretty cheap -- just search the classifieds within G35 Forums.. I got mine used and it was worth it to me instead of paying close to $500 Brand new....

you can find used HFC's under $300...you can also pick up an HR style ypipe (used from a G35 Rev up) or the Motordyne xyz pipe...then a Megan mid pipe...connect to your existing mufflers...

But for right now and staying within a good budget: the z-tube, drop in and Uprev will be good...(may consider the 5/16 plenum spacer)...you will have good gains...then when you're ready, add the exhaust mods listed above -- keep in mind, you will need to re-tune if you add more mods after your initial tune.

...not to sure about the Uprev data logger...I went with the Uprev done at a pro-tuner = $500 for Uprev to be added, 3 dyno runs (got an additional), 5 maps to select (drive by wire), cam timing increase, A/F ratio improvement, rev limiter increase...

I'll search my prior posts regarding my dyno numbers related to the mods I added...and at different times...

you're ride looks really clean :bigthumb: I noticed in picture 2, there is another M in the background (left side)....is he on the NICO forum also???

...here are some numbers regarding my Uprev tune:

3/22/11 - Baseline run 91 octane
NEAR STOCK (K&N drop in, stock mufflers w/xpipe and 2.25"
piping from cats) =
whp: 229 @ 5953 A/F: 13.79
Tq: 228 @ 4938

After Uprev w/ Osiris:
whp: 252 @ 5952 A/F: 12.98
Tq: 238 @ 4767

Then added plenum spacer, z tube to existing mods:
whp: 265 @ 6300
Tq: 245 @ 4745

**I'm currently at 292 wHP after all mods added** so yes, it's a possibility of gaining some HP with the Uprev, z-tube, drop in, and your existing mods :dblthumb:

Wow so you said 265/245 after z tube/spacer so how you get the 292? Was that after a 2nd tune with all mods? What A/f you run at average? for me I found 12.7-12.8 seems to be the sweet spot

Does the Uprev allow datalogging for throttle position, a/f vs rpm fuel consumption etc so you can see what works and doesn't?

HP aside with light normal driving like you would on stock car did you notice actual improvement or same gas mileage or worse? I know with 63 more HP I know gas mileage at WOT would go down but I image with better a/f adjustments in normal dricing conditions you would run better MPG since it will lean out a little. OEM always run richer to save the cats and improve emissions.

my gas mileage really did improve after my final mods....and tune. For example, with "spirited" driving I've been averaging 15.5-17 mpg!! that's going WOT for short bursts here and there.

....I work really close to home so I don't do a lot of driving during the week ('maybe' 30 miles per week). I'll take the car out on the weekends for some fwy runs and that's about it....that's where the car really comes alive...I enjoy cruising at 60mph then throw it into manual mode then getting to 120 smoothly and quickly...the car pulls without any straining :dblthumb: I once had a guy in an M45 give me 'thumbs up' when we were going head-to-head on a nice stretch of open fwy...I'm sure he was surprised to see an M35 move like that.... :)

I only use 91 octane in the car...but have used 89 during a long trip to San Diego...

no...I think you misread...15-17 doing 'spirited' (FAST) / on the pedal / pushing it / shifting thru the gears and getting to 6000 rpm's etc...that type of driving. To me, that's good... :chuckle:

normal / lite fwy driving I'm getting close to 27-28mpg...normal / lite city driving I'm doing 20+mpg

....forgot to add = the Uprev map I keep my car in is 'sport mode'....
