Well I took everyones reccomendations on optima batteries but only two suppliers here in Canada.....walmart and costco. Both don't carry yellow top so I got frustrated with looking and got the red top for $200.

I really needed a new battery I cleaned out so much dried acid it was getting nasty. It also looks like my lights don't dim with my bass as much but I didn't check too much into detail. Ill try my power window test tommorow....activate pw motor and see of my fogs dim like before. I noticed my done light didn't dim with the music so that's awesome.

Quick question....I took it for a 30min drive after I installed it for a solid charge. Any idea on a safe amount of time I can play music with engine off? Ill prob turn subs off but I love playing music while cleaning the car and I never do because my old battery would die in 5mins.

technically, the only true deep cycle Optima is the Marine Blue Top, but both the red and yellow will tolerate frequent discharges and recharges.

with that said, the only way to know what your battery in your truck with your stereo will do, is to do it. i'd make sure you have a way to jump your vehicle or have a car charger.

if you have a multimeter, you can just hook it up to the battery and set your timer to see how long until your battery voltage drops to 12.5V, which is about the minimum you need to start a vehicle.

And its too late to get a btr deal I already bought the battery! Also how would the receipt and warranty work if your buying off kijiji...I nvr trust those kinds of deals

with optima, you can warranty it through any authorized dealer of optima - autozone, walmart, oreilly's, pep boys, etc. idk what you have in canada, but if they sell optimas, they are required to honor the optima warranty.

just saying...

$200 CDN or USD is a killer deal for a new optima though.

I see your still keeping our trucks the same.

I've got the red top optima in my truck for the last 6-7 months now and haven't had any issues with it thus far. I can play my music with subs on for a good 3-4 hours and still start the truck fine without any hitch.

Don't know beyond that tho as I've never tried it past that.

Such a hater on Brampton now that your no longer here, lol

3-4 hours that's sick man. Yeah I don't miss brampton. Although it was wicked spitting you and slick. I spotted a silver pathy with black 20's on chrome lips here in burlington but its still rare seeing them. There's less corollas here though that's freaking sweet

Me, I go with a Diehard. I just can't see $200 for a battery. The only PF batterythat's made me need a jump was the OEM battery in the'01. But I just havethe factory stereo, and keep it turned down.

Do carry a good set of jumper cables. The ones on my boat have paid for themselves several times over. Not jumping me, but somebody else whosends a six-pack, or, once, a nice bottle of single-malt.

A single optima red top is not gonna last 3-4 hours playing an amplified stereo.

You can buy a voltmeter for like $20 and just keep an eye on it, gives you a real time readout and looks pretty cool, youll see the numbers slowly dropping on the gauge.. when it gets below like 11.5volts you need to turn the damn car back on

A lot of headunits like my Pioneer AVIC-Z3 and my old AVIC-D3 have built in volt meters. I've run my yellowtop with subs low for 3+ hours and it didn't drop below 12v.

No you didnt. Even if you were using a small 500watt amp it would still draw more than 20A/hour and your battery would be pooched. Optimas are good... but not that good.

Yes I did sweetheart, I couldn't believe it myself. Plus I've got 2 amps. I'm running a 4 channel 400w for the doors and a 600w for the subs.

I run 2 amps as well, and I was able to play 3-4 hours without a glitch on startup.

Not sure it would have faired so good with a battery that has seen its days tho.

I have to say that the Optima batteries can take a good beating and still perform.

Thats a good upgrade especially with a sound system I bought a yellow top last year from a random audio shop,i paid 180 brand new unfortunately the battery didn't last too long, after 8 months(used occasinally and stored properly) it wouldn't hold charge (something called purple haze??).
