well ill tell u... thats what we do. working for a garage any little edge we can find we will try to sell. a dealership is even worse cause o the price of there parts. my advice do not always take their word for it. and even tho going to the dealer is the best way to do it. going to a garage is 100x cheaper. its even cheaper when u do it urself cause u could have gotten the parts at even less then the garage would charge u. hey ill tell u what bring ur car to my garage and ill only charge u 2,000....

Trust me Tezzy that is standard tactic to scare you into paying more. I went in @ 89K to have the car inspected and they quoted me the same exact things. When I brought it in I intentionally did not tell them I had a leaky PS hose just to see if they would catch it. Sure enough they missed such an easy thing so I left disgusted.

Independents can only buy [with a 20-25% discount] Nissan parts from dealers so Nissan Parts tend to have the same retail selling price.

Some generic copies are available but the quality is always iffy.

Independents are usually 20-$25 per hour less expensive than Infiniti due to lower overhead.

In ATL we are $85/hr and dealers are $110.

They will try to jack you every time. I took mine in for diagnostics prior to having my 60K done and they tried saying I need a new Rack, when I have a torn boot that is like 18 bucks. And they tried to sell me the T-belt change at an hour over book time. I will never go back for anything. Luckily, I found a garage that the owner used to be the shop foreman at our local Nissan and charges 69 bucks an hour labor!

At $69 per book hour you have possibily found a winner, however an owner is not the tech who will be doing the work.

Find out how the techs are paid HOURLY or Book hours..........obviously hourly is best for quality just expensive for the shop.Make sure they have a Consult 1 or 2 for diagnosis and analysis.

Oem pads are usually the best for noise and quality and reasonable life.

The longer a pad lasts the noiser it usually is. Important to MATCH pads and rotor quality as there are at minimum 5 hardness grades available.

You need to visit http://www.jerrytucker.net for your major service.

It is well worth the drive.

Get all your parts from http://www.infinitipartsusa.com Avoid NAPA, Pep Boys, etc. like the plague as they retail cheap non OEM specification Chinese parts that will fail early or even damamge the car.

Congratulations on maintining your beautiful J so well!
