I was just given these coilovers by a friend who is closing down his shop...Apex N1's. He said they need a rebuild. I wasn't planning on running coilovers on the new project but if I just pay $400 give or take to rebuild them then I might as well use them and have higher end equipment. It is hard to tell from the picture but they are in really good shape other than needing the rebuild.

I have used the search button on nico, google, and ask using key words like "coilover rebuild" "apex n1 coilover rebuild" and found ****.

I did find that cost is about $100 a shock for the rebuild. Should I contact Apex for the rebuild service? Can I order parts and do it myself...I'm very mechanically inclined and this is my 3rd s14. What are my options? Apex's site didn't have any info either.

If there is a faq for this and I missed it sorry, but I seriously can't find **** on this topic. I don't need anyone talking **** and if you say "use the search button" I am going to f u c k your skull holes. To anyone else that has actual factual info I am very appreciative.

I just wanted to give an update. I called apexi and got a machine when I tried to talk to sales. So I called back and talked to tech support who was very helpful.

The guy's name was Keith. He told me to fill out the warranty card (even though they aren't under warranty) and fax it to him. He said he would call me back with a RMA number. He did with in an hour after receiving the fax.

Now I just need to send them to APEXi with the RMA number all over the box. $140.75 an axle (about $70 each shock).

I will update on time frame and quality of the work done when I get them back.

I realize this seems kind of trivial being so detailed on the process but it would be nice having the info available on one page for someone else to search for if needed.

Hey, I have same coilovers and they are also in need of a rebuild. I can't seem to find Apexi's contact information on the web anywhere only info on their dealers. Do you think you can post up or email me their contact information. Thanks!

-Apex's phone number is... 714-685-5700-Press 2 for tech support (that's who I talked to) or 1 for sales...talk to anyone who will answer the phone.-The trick is getting a hold of someone and not a machine.-They are going to tell you to fill out the warranty card (even if they are out of warranty and you bought them from someone else).-Fax them the warranty card...714-685-5701-Wait for them to call you back with an RMA #-Once you get that magical RMA# send your coilovers in to APEX-i. -DO NOT send them in with out the RMA# because they will refuse them.-The guy I talked to was Keith @ 110. Good luck.

Ok, Apexi called me today to tell me the coilovers were done. Unfortunately they are telling me that there was more stuff wrong with them that they found Instead of the $300 I was originally quoted it is now $510 but I am essentially getting brand new coilovers. The tech I talked to said they pretty much replaced everything (tubes, valves, pillow ball mount bearings, dust boots, etc... long list but not the standard rebuild apparently. So I am still getting $1500-2500 coilovers for $510. I really have no idea if they are giving me the run around or not.

Turn around time is a month? That's better than Tanabe. $510 is not bad at all for almost new coilovers. You got yourself a good deal. Give us update on ride quality and stuff...

You are still looking at under $600 after shipping (I assume) roll with them and if you do not like them, there is no reason to believe you can not re-sell for a small profit. If they were for an S13, and I was not happy with my Teins, I'd shell 6, 7 maybe $800 for a complete set of overhauled Apexi's. Naturally don't expect everyone to be eager or willing to part with that kind of loot, but it would be damn near impossible to not break even at the very least. If you sell them for enough to break even AND buy a steak dinner, you came out ahead.

For those coilovers I would pay the 510$ in a heartbeat. Go for it, if you don't like them in the end you can always sell them for a profit.
