What is it lately with this rash of G35's in accidents and why do I have to be one of the victims too? Sigh, I was waiting to make this post in hopes that it would end in a happy ending, unfortunately it's not looking that way. I was in an accident this past Monday and I was hoping it would be repairable however, I just got off the phone with the body shop and they are telling me that it is looking like it's going to get totaled. They had to hand it off to another adjuster to do the estimate. I will hopefully hear the final word on it tomorrow. Right now, I just want to cry... I may be saying good by to my Nico buddies soon...

Man I am so sorry to hear that. Glad you are ok. You don't have to say by to us. I don't know what I would do if that happened to me. I'd probably get another G right now. Let us know how it goes.

Sorry to hear about your wreck. It's a good thing you weren't hurt. Let the adjuster total it. You DON'T want it fixed. It will never be the same again.

I heard a famous German car company had 100,000 LEADED cloth voodoo cars made in China complete with logo and decals and special hammers.

Ugh, I know that's what I hear but it's so damn hard cause I really don't think I will be able to afford to get into another G, I was just really lucky and got a great deal and had alot of money saved up from my deployment, but I don't really have that money now. It's just killing me when I try to think of a car I might want to get as a replacement but I have had a taste of Infiniti and do NOT want to settle for anything less. I just CAN NOT see myself in anything else except a 350Z or an Altima and the lack of a back seat for my son(single father) rule out the 350Z. Sigh... this sucks.

I do appreciate all the love I have been receiving from you guys though and the concern for us... rest assured though... we are fine and no one was hurt. I love NICO, you guys are all great... and I was just joking I won't disappear... I will still be around.

Would be glad to keep an eye out for a deal in the Charlotte area if I know how much $$$ you are wanting to spend.

I'm not sure, but I think he was firm on his price and I have not yet heard if it's going to be totaled yet. I was told that I don't really have a choice in the matter so I don't know, cause I mentioned to them that I would want it totaled and they said, "Oh, well, you don't really have a choice in that..." so whatever. How about it though Kenrik? Is it still for sale?

Ugh... just heard from the body shop, yup, it's totaled, now I have to wait to hear from the total loss adjuster to get my settlement I'll have to wait and see how much I get after they pay it off, I don't expect it to be a whole lot though. Sigh... I want my G back.

Does anyone happen to know, is insurance cheaper or more expensive on a standard as opposed to a manual transmission? If all the other options, history and all that... everything is the same except transmission, which is cheaper? Just curious.

Although you didn't have a choice in if it was totaled or not (and that's debatable on the margins) - you do have a choice on what settlement you will accept.

Just don't forget that you're negotiating... I got State Farm from $2300 to about $5500 on my old Q45 with over 200K on the odometer. I absolutely buried them in paperwork for a few weeks. I also documented every minute I spent dealing with the wreck, and when we got to an impass near the end of the process - I told them that my time was valuable and that if we couldn't work something out, I would recover that in the legal action if it came to it.

To some extent I think not being at fault and their being the insurer of the other driver helped me... I could always respond with - "I know it was worth more than book value but it wasn't for sale when your insured whacked me... "

Even if the accident was your fault - your insurance premiums in the future won't be less than they would otherwise be because you earned "nice guy points" with the adjustor - so get all that you can!

Good luck!

Heath

I would be prepared with an itemized list of any recent repairs. Also, you might get some prices off the internet of what the real cost will be to you in replacing the car. They do negotiate. They want to settle as soon as possible, so you might want to delay a bit or at least let them think you'll need some more time to review their offer.
