I'm planning to buy a coilover setup soon. I was thinking about the Tein HEs, but some of my friends are giving me mixed opinions about Tein. So I want to ask you guys on what you think is the best company for coilovers. Here's what I'm looking at: $1500 limit, more performance orientated ride so I don't really care how it rides, and ride height and dampening adjustble. I'll also be doing a lot of auto-x.-Thanks

The Tein HE are drift specific. I think the Tein Type Flex are. Not really sure. But i think its 1500 exact. and like another 300 for the edfc. which is good if your lazy to do the damping adjustment. but you still have to use the perches for the ride height.

tein flex arent 'drift specific'. tein he are claimed to be drift specific but i dont really see how this can be possible, its probably marketing buzz. anyway i have HE and love them, and got em for 1200.

the type-flex is going to be too soft, its not made for racing use, its more of a street suspension, the HE is a wonderfull autcross/road race suspension, but for deticated road race(with slicks/R_compounds) it could stand to be a bit stiffer in both tis spring rates, and dampening adjustments.

anyways, the HE is great, I also really have liked the apex-i n-1 and kei office coils, and cusco is always nice. THe problem with apex-i, cusco, etc is their cost....

TEIn's are probably the best for the moeny right now, IMO.-chet

Can't say much about the other coilovers that exar named, except the HEs. I love em, my friend has them and they are great. On the softest setting its very tolerable on the freeway, and for drifting the stiffest valving is nice too, plus they have camber plates, always a plus. I would get them if I had the money.

kei office makes great stuff, like apex-i and cusco, but damn they charge for it.

the only beef I have with the TEIN HE is their supposed rust/corrosion problems, and tein says they fixed this, but Im not positive about it.-chet

i bought some FLTA2's for $1520. i like em, although i havent been able to really play with the adjustments yet. the guy told me to break them in for like 500 miles or something. but so far they're stiff but not too stiff. ive heard others say, however, that sometimes the seats dont stay in place. hasnt happened on mine yet though (but i only got them about 3 weeks ago).
