All I see is bruised knuckles, dirty hands, lots of cursing, and a transmission lift to lift the engine off the frame...then the bitter disappointment of an exhaust leak.

That was my experience with headers on my LT1 firebird.

I hope the MOD gods shine on you my son!!!!!!!!

I know it's going to be an all day adventure. Thats why I'm waiting for the right day to tackle it. A day when I'm not working or drunk till 12 in the afternoon from the night before. It's hard being 22. Lol.

I'd be pissed if I got an exhaust leak....

Eghhh don't do it...

Test pipes was enough for me... this is worse becase FIRST you need to remove the cats etc... then get to the real work.

Ideally I would like to have some kind of cat replacement aswell. 2 birds with one stone.

+1

Also try to find LEAD collector and header gaskets... DO NOT use a paper gasket unless you love CO2 poisoning.

Do not reuse any bolts.

Great advice      See if FEL-PRO makes those multi layered metal gaskets for our cars. Also, use small headed bolts, to make it easier to wrench around the header tubes.Coat all the bolt threads with anti seize compound.

the gaskets supplied look like 2 pieces of thin metal(with holes) with a rubber or tar like material inbetween.

All new bolts are supplied.

I was planning on attacking this project this weekend. I originally had the weekend off. But then the Regional manager said no managers can have off the weekends this month for back to school. Gay... I know.

I guess now I will just wait for my test pipes and do them all together.

Yea, it kinda sucks.....but then again.....if ya like that kinda work and take pride in sayin "I did it myself" rather than Joes garage did it have a blast!!

Tell ya what, you drive out to NV and I'll help ya install them there headers just fer fun! Oh yea, you don't have to remove the cats to install headers, just remove the bracket that supports those heavy azz things and you will have plenty of room to work. Test pipes make it sooo much easier too. Have fun and enjoy!!
