How bad are they? Do they still have the clear-coat on them or are they raw aluminum? If you could post a pic, I thnk it'd help.

I spent 40-60 hours rehabbing a set of JDM Sparcos, and had good results... need to know more about your wheels though.

I know that if you go to sears they have a polishing kit there that has 4 or 5 different rouges in it. On the back of the package it has a discription of each one and what to use each one for. Then you can take that info to your local polishing supply place and get the one you need.

Hey, I want to polish my wheel lips too. They're rounded over with really small grooves running around the wheel where they were machined. Some of the clear coat is working itself off, and where there isn't clear coat it looks like ****. Little rust specs, dirt holds differently there, I'm sure you can imagine. How should I go about dealing with the polishing/(re-clearcoating?) of these? It's about to hit winter up here, I'm going to have to drive on these wheels, and they salt the roads so I need to figure something out soon.

Re-doing the clear coat is best left to a pro.

If you want to refinish them, it's a big job, but not too hard.

I did mine one at a time, on the car, with the rear up on jackstands, car running, in gear... Use some 200 grit to remove the machining grooves. Work down through the range (400 grit, 600 grit, 800 grit, steel wool, all WET) and follow with Mother's.

When you're done, you could have them re-cleared OR apply several coats of protective wax to keep 'em shiny.
