First off, I'd just like to say hi, since I'm new here. I actually don't own the versa, but its actually my girlfriend's car. Anyways, she got the sportscaster XM radio for free and so far the quality isn't too good. I've already got it running in her car and just ran the XM antenna through the side molding of the car.

Now its time to take it to the next step. I noticed that her radio doesn't have the aux input, since its just the base versa s, so looks like if I want sound quality im going to have to hardwire it. So on to the topic of discussion.

I've read so far on how to the take part the radio, so I'm hopefully good with that. Now I just need some direction into hardwiring the radio using an fm modulator such as this:

into her radio, and also hardwiring the power source to it. Most likely I will mount the radio itself either above the dash or below the dash right above the cup holders or whatever she wants it to be. So far bestbuy wants to charge me upwards ofr $80 to install it +parts, a circuit city is about $120 + parts. Note, I've already run the wire through the car so 1/2 of the jobs already done. Its just that I need to know how to get the modulator working with the factory radio, and have it powered by the car not having to use the cigerrette adapter. Any tips, pointers, advice, is greatly apprecaited. Thanks again.

Wow! These are getting popular.....I just sold three in the last week! I have what you need in stock to do it yourself.......as long as you have some knowledge of radio wiring but it's only a couple of wires to install and I have been told pretty easy.

Unless I'm missing something here (?), it appears you need more than just an antenna adapter.

The antenna adapter will allow you to plug your Versa antenna into that modulator...

But you still need to connect your modulator to the V's headunit. The stock headunit has a square plug, so that modulator thing won't work without another adapter.

(I'm sure you probably don't want to hear this, but getting rid of the crappy stock radio is the easiest and best solution. )

Same position as you are. I have the XM Sportster and have it hardwired to the stock head unit (S Model) via the audiovox fm modualtor. $29.00 at Circuit City . You have to purchase 2 adapters. Both a male and female. Both are made by metra. They are NOT the S-10 plugs that fit the subaru.I paid about $15 per cable and got them at a performance shop. Circuit City / Best Buy did not have them. Then its just connect. I tie wrapped everything together and have it under the head unit so I got a clean install, running the antennae wire and other wires under the panels. The antennae I put in the triangular window on the drivers side, securing it with 3M velcro like material. Its actually plastic that adheres to itself. (What you use to connect your EZ Pass to your windshield) if you're familiar with that. Only issue is when the XM is powered up it kicks off my fm. So to get my fm back I have to pull the plug on the xm. I'm sure there's a way to fix that too. Also the Circuit City installer told me NEVER cut that antennae wire. Its a powered combination wire I guess. Just passing it along.
