I want to do a turbo KA24DE in a 98 240SX SE. I need information on the complexity and the parts list, as well as a reccomendation on the type and brand of turbo and other parts to use.

I would like to keep this on the cheap if possible. Under 2500 bucks would probably be cool with me.

If any of you know of tutorials or have done it yourself, I would appreciate the info.

I have done a few searches for good information in the forum on this topic and I haven't come up with anything extensive enough to get the job started or spend any money on parts.

Let me know If you can help. There are alot of pretty knowledgable people in this forum, hope someone can take the time to help.

If you dont know much of where to get stuff forget only spending $2500 your already in over your head. save up another $1000 and buy a kit or read the KAT forum for a couple months then you might be ok

"Maximum Boost" by Corky Bell is a very popular book about forced induction. I haven't bought a copy yet (it's on my Amazon.com wishlist if anyone wants to buy it for me!), but I've heard very good things about it.

The guys in the KA-T forum seem to really like it.

It can be done...check out Smug510's setup, its some very cool stuff for rather cheap! However, if you arent sure what parts to buy I'd have to agree with Structure...save a bit more and buy a kit for more of a hassle free experience. Oh, and dont expect to make a TON of power (ie: >300rwhp) on that budget, but I bet you can do a rather nice 7psi or so setup! Come to the KAT forum!

I am not looking for chest-deflating power. Just enought to make the ride really fun. I drive this car everyday and absolutely love it.

Look at it this way. You put a diamond ring on your wife's finger, why shouldn't there be a crowning jewel on your 240?

(My wife would probably kick my a$$ if i told her that to justify the turbo kit.

Ok, so you say that the kit is the way to go if i don't have experience with them. So give me some suggestions as to manufacturer and size....

And thanks for the invite to the KAT forum, i didn't realize that resource was there. I will more than likely read in there for a couple of months before I do anything.

You guys kick a$$, thanks for the great replies.

Is there any engine work that needs to be done? Heads, valves, etc.... before I do the turbo kit?

not really unless you plan on boosting past 12psi thats when i would get a rebuild with lower compression and forged internals. search around you'll find your answers tho it will take a while

SEARCH a ton more, read for another three months, meet the atlanta guys and talk to them, read for another month, find someone else who wants to do any serious engine work on their KA and watch/help, read "Maximum Boost" by Corky Bell, go drive three different turbo-charged cars, get a factory FSM for your particular year, and THEN you may be ready to go turbo KA. I'm not trying to be a ****, but it's not just a slap on and go procedure.

I will refer to the stated thread when told to go search more. Everyone has been owned by the search function once or more.

Everyone else, thanks for the valuable answers without the attitude.
