I have learned so much through this site. I paid 1k for my vert and I am loving it. I have been researching engine swaps and am looking at the RB25DET. Imagine my surprise to find that I can get an complete engine and transmission from Raw Brokerage for around $2500 dollars. Ok so why do I want to cry? January 08' I bought a 06' 6 speed STi transmission for my WRX that had about 4400 miles on it. I paid $4K for it which was a good price believe it or not. I love my WRX but somehow I think a RB25 powered vert would have been alot more fun for way less money.

theres so much more money involved than just cost of motor. Mount kit, driveshaft, wiring and if you are not comfortable with a wrench, installation of all of that. Not to mention any bolt ons you may want like FMIC, down pipe, etc.

Although it would be much more fun, 4 grand for a WRX seems like a steal. A very good investment for a daily and winter beater. Be patient, the vert will come.

TIMELSS_vert No I paid 4K for just a transmission from an STi. It was another $500 getting it installed. This doesn't include the brake upgrade or wheels and tires I did also. I have had the WRX since new in 02'. Blew up stock 5 speed. After paying $1800 to have it rebuilt the center differential carrier bearings decided they didn't want to play anymore. Wish I had learned the ways of the vert before spending all that money. Point is parts for WRX's are still expensive. You can go faster in a vert for way less. Not to mention it is a convertible.Oh Well you live and you learn

ah, totally skimmed across the trans stuff. I just saw "bought wrx for four k." Now I can understand you lament. Oh well, sounds like you took the right things out of the situation.

Not selling the WRX. It is way nicer with the Sti 6 speed. They can take way more abuse. They should have come with the 6 speed. Oh well WRX is done. Can't wait to start shoveling money in the vert now.
