I plan on buying a set of 18" x 8 rims for my '08 A/C 2.5s (bremmer kraft BR-02 Bright Silver) http://www.tirerack.com/wheels...Brand

They are 18" and 8" wide and i have a few questions. First of all, i see a lot of people on this forum with some sick looking 18"s that have pretty low profile tires. Then again i see people who have 18"s and i can hardly tell they weren't 17"s because the sidewalls seem disproportionately large. (for example, the OEM g37xS rims seem like they've got a lot of rubber on them) So why is this? If you have an 18" rim isn't there only so large or small you can go with the profile of the tire in order to stay within the appropriate overall wheel/tire diameter?

Anyway, what size tire dimension should i get for this wheel if i want as low of a profile tire as i can get on 18's while staying within the 3% of the overall Wheel/Tire size?

PS any thoughts on the wheels? has anyone heard anything good or bad about this brand?

Sorry for the long post

These are your stocks: 215/60/16

Lowest you can go while staying within +-3% is this 245/40/18

enjoy

P.S.: next time use this http://www.powerdog.com/tiresize.cgi

Thanks a lot!

Could someone post a picture of a 18 inch tire wrapped in 225/45-18, 245/40-18, and 235/45-18 so i could see a side comparison of how they look?

Also has anyone heard anything about those bremmer kraft wheels from my first post?

These are 235/40/18s. I like em. The picture makes it seem like the sidewall is huge but its really not. I actually love the tires I got aesthetically wise so I don't mind them not being ridiculously low profile. That and I think having a huge wheel with a tire that is like an inch thick just looks really silly.

Those look great!

Aren't those the smallest of any tires you could really get on a coupe though? i checked that calculator that mcheddadi and those proportions leave you right on the cusp of the 3.0%( at -2.9%) and id rather stay stay a little closer to stock overall tire diameter proportions. those look sick though and your calipers look nice. are those painted stocks? what brand of paint/where did you get it?

LOL you are right those are the smallest profile there are. Sorry for my mistake!

I'd still go for 245 cuz wider = more grip

Thanks,

What about for 7.5 inch wheels. I'm gonna get the Enkei Ev5's in 18 inches. would the 235/40 work better for that? does the fact that the over all size of the tire would be smaller affect gas mileage much? or as much as having heavier wheels would?
