I love my I30. For what it is, its not that slow, but I want more. At the moment, I do not have the funds to turbo my VQ35DE or anything costly like that. Is there anything I can do to it to give me a couple extra horsepower for next to nothing money wise. I have taken out my resonator, i use Z-max and lucas products. Is there anything I can do to override something limiting my engine? Anything I can disconnect of remove put in place by the factory. The car is mainly stock. I have only put a K&N filter in the intake box. Also, I want to change my suspension. Small things like swaybar links and bushings lowering springs and struts. Give me a wallet friendly brand. One more thing. My I30 is an automatic of coarse. It has just over 213000 miles on it. I want to know, does anyone know if it will be safe to change my trans fluid and filter. I dont want to ruin my trans since it has so many miles. If it is safe, wat should i put in my trans for best performance with a high milage trans?

Nothing is cheap for the A32 platform. Mods you can do though
Intake, headers, exhaust, OOVI/MEVI

Remember the A32 I30/Max is not a racecar

thank you for the info yeah i know it is not a racecar but hell nothing wrong with a lil extra performance. I like that it has the VQ35 instead of a 30 though.

Ya definitly a 3 liter. At that milage the best upgrades you can do is normal maintainence. Make sure all the filters are clean and spark plugs have been changed. Clogged filters and plugs are robbing you of hp. At that kind of milage you really should take care of the car. Make sure all the fluids have been changed, especially the hydrolic fluids. If the car has had all the maintainence done you can look at the catalyst. Thats where most of the choking happens. Not much else beyond that, as was already mentioned these cars really arent built for racing.

I hate to state the obvious, but with 213K on the clock, doing any tinkering is going to lead to a new engine quickly.

The only real low-cost bolt-on horsepower are intake and exhaust. A cold-air-intake and a Y-pipe with less restrictive exhaust may, in general, bring you something like 10 horsepower and maybe +5 lb/feet of torque. Of course the car will be noisy, but it will go a bit faster.

Changing the fluid and filter is not likely to hurt anything. Keep in mind that at 200K miles you are on borrowed-time anyway, even less if this is the original fluid.

transmission fluid does two things, provides cooling and lubrication. Over time, the lubricating qualities go away, which causes more heat, and more heat breaks down the lubrication......

While it's remotely possible that changing the fluid may stir up a bunch of gunk and kill the transmission, not having fresh fluid is going to make it wear faster, which will kill the transmission.....

when i said it was stock i meant the rest of the car. The engine blew up in 2006 and the previous owner put the VQ35 in it. But it still seems to be kinda slow. It has alot of wear on it. It has some sort of vacumm leak somewhere i only hear it while taking off, just an 'airy' sound, not while idling. I use spectre air cleaners, i know its not K&N but i always have liked their parts, good pricing. I had changed the valve cover gaskets one time and while i had the intake and stuff off, I noticed so much dirt mainly sand built up in my intake and heads. It may be holding me back but i dont know how to clean all that out without sending my parts to a machine shop or something. All of my emission equipment is solid, hoses and valves, so I cannot determine where the leak is all i know is it seems to be down by my transmission. The fuel pump is kinda noisy, when I get on the throttle, I can hear it pumping fuel. I use Zmax in my engine. Its amazing stuff. I also use Lucas products each oil change. I use Lucas fuel system cleaners too. Is there a better spark plug I should use, any ideas? I am using a plat. spark plug. I been thinking about using those E3 plugs. My main question today, who has a good way to clean out my engine of all the dirt and sand. When i say it is built up, i looks like someone drove the car through a sandstorm without an air filter.

Plugs---Use OE replacement NGK plugs. Dont use E3 or bosch. Use NGK

For an intake you will probably need to go to autozone and get the pipes to make custom setup. I dont think anybody makes one for a 3.5 4th gen

Exhaust. Go to a muffler shop and get custom cat back. Bring the muffler of your choice

And I dont know how to clean the engine, minus taking it apart and cleaning it
