I am running an internal coil on an S14 distributor.

Are there any upgrades for the internal coil without converting to external? IE. does the SR coil offer a fit and any gains? Any aftermarket folks make a good replacement?

I havent been able to find anything.

Thanks again folks

The thread title should read "I don't know how spark ignition systems work".

Is your car turbocharged at very high boost, or in some other way operating substantially above factory volumetric efficiency (think +100% or more).

If not, you don't need more voltage. The end.

I am in the process of putting some oomph back into my KA, and I do hope to push around 12psi at some point. It’s a high-milage KA and I thought I would revamp the ignition with some strong components. It seems that the stock ignition on the S14 is much stronger than the S13, but I figure the coils are such a minimal cost, why don’t I replace with something better? It would simply be one less item to worry about as the odometer climbs and I am trying to diagnose an absolute loss of power in the higher RPM range.

I apologize for the subject line as it was fairly weak.

So the concensus is that there are no exciting internal replacements for the coil?

If mine stops working I find an OEM replacement?
