I will be getting a 92'/93' 240sx hatchback bone stock in a month or so. The little knowledge that I have with these cars is the knowledge I obtained from close friends who currently drive 240's . They, however, are only into drifting and told me to make a thread here regarding power. They all use stock turbo's with their swapped SR20DET's. The reason I am getting this car is because it's cheap and its cheap to make fast (cheap compared to many other cars). I want it fast on the highway, and I'm assuming an SR20 is right for me. I would prefer to stay away from the RB/2jz/LS1 swaps. If I use a S13 SR20DET, would it be possible with stock internals to achieve >385whp numbers or would it be easier to go S15 SR20DET? And what Turbo kit would I be looking at? I'm assuming a GT30r kit larger. Probably with a bigger turbine housing as well. I don't mind lag, I won't be drifting and it's simply a weekend project highway car . So my concerns are:

1) What turbo kit should get me easily to >400whp and2) If need be, what internals should I invest in for the SR20 motor? And are SR20DET's rev happy? I may need a stronger internal or two in order for me to keep the turbo in it's sweet spot.3) What kind of an after market tuning solution should I use? Power FC?

Thanks a ton. If you have any recommended vendors for internals and the turbo kit, I would deeply appreciate that as well.

Patrick

look on your own, use the search feature... their is a buttload of information on this site just look. your not anymore special than anyone else on this site. we aren't goin to come up with anymore info that isnt already here, which is the purpose fo a thread. why would you explain something to someone when the whole darn book is right in front of them?

Why would make such a long post and say nothing but "search"?

Anyways

1.)A lot of people go for the GT2871R and get the outputs you're looking for.

2.) People have gone up too 500 on stock internals

3.) If you can afford Power FC then get it.

I've been learning that a great tune goes a long way with our motors (sr's) there are a few guys on here making great #'s on stock internals.

check out enjuku racing or jgy customs, they have some great priced kits but do your homework.

welcome to NICO!

Good 3" exhaust, get brand name but you can get it usedGT2871R .64 a/rAftermarket o2 housing, ebay will suffice for $80550cc injectors or 650cc but if you go with 650 you will have to get an aftermarket ECU because the SAFC 2 and the stock ecu can only do 550ccSAFC II for tuningWalbro fuel pumpz32 mafCamsYou should be able to make those numbers somewhere around 18-20psi with a good tune

I buy most of my stuff from Enjuku Racing

Thank you...

But could you tell me how top-end is with that turbo? That is the reason why I considered going slightly bigger..I want to pull to 140mph and not give up a tad till I get there..

See, WRXRICK and I are in the same situation. I too am wondering what I can do to an Sr20. 400whp is plenty for me and I would really only run on low-boost (300whp or less) during daily driving. What turbo would be good for that? GT30R? or can I do it with a smaller one? Thanks a lot.

unless you have a burning desire for enough power to seriously endanger your bottom end, go with the gt2871r. the gt30 also requires a t3 flanged exhaust manifold (expensive), whereas the gt2871r just bolts right on.

nice dude, hope to see atleast 410 high powerband at about 18psi! nice setup

Got those rocker arm stoppers and solid lifters? raise that rev range nicely and keep that peak boost holding for a LOONGG time =D

We will see. Im hoping for around 410whp with 19-20psi but wouldnt surprise me if i see 385whp. I tend to guess higher than i actually make. Only gonna rev to 7500rpm even though my rev limiter is 8000rpm. Ive got RAS but stock valve springs are my concern after 7500rpm.
