I have a 91 KA24DE HB S13. I heard that ppl where able to take off all of the emission junk of the motor and it still ran good. As a matter of fact better. But everybody I know is into Honda. So I can't ask them. Does anybody know what exactly I would need to take off or if it's even safe??!!Also the governors that turn the car off when passin over 110 MPH where they are located and also if it works with them off. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The easiest way to remove the speed limiter is with a ROM tune or simply using the ECU from an automatic S13.

Removing all of the EGR stuff won't make your car run better or make more power. The reason most people think they make more power is because all of the vacuum lines back there get dry rotted and leak.

Does your car run well right now? If so I'd leave everything the way it is and concentrate on getting more air in and out of the motor. Possibly advancing your timing.

So a cold air intake that doesn't pull any air from under the hood and a nice header are the best ways to make power when naturally aspirated. Also try wrapping the header with thermo wrap to cut down the heat under the hood.

BTW, this is a turbo forum. You may have better luck in the KA24DE forum. I'll move it for you.

2 thoughts:

1) Your engine made the most HP it's ever made the day it left the factory. Get it back to THAT condition and you'll be happy.

2) I doubt seriously that you're regularly bumping up against the speed limiter, but if you are, I'd recommend addressing other age-related issues on the car: bushings, suspension, tires, brakes, steering, etc. so that it's actually safe and stable.
