I can't figure it out, and neither can anyone else.

Well about 2 weeks ago it started. Car just stalled out on me, it had been running fine, no signs of anything going wrong. Wouldn't stay running when I tried cranking it, finally got it running, parked it, when I started to drive about 4 hours later, it did something funny, almost felt like the govenor kicked in, at 35 mph, then 50, it kept doing it in no sequence at all, drove home with it happening about every 15 seconds, get home park it, check for loose connections anywhere, and nothing, go fill the car up with gas, and it runs fine.Let it sit overnite, start driving it, 15 minutes down the road, it starts again, still no sequence, very sporadic. It's still going on, after 2 weeks happeing about once or twice a day, I drive about 100 miles a day. While it's happening if I push in my clutch and rev up the engine, it doesn't happen, let out the clutch and start drivng it starts back up

Within the past 3 months I have chenged the plugs wires, fuel filter, distributor cap and rotor, clutch, flywheel, and all my fluids.

I have checked everything looked everywhere, and asked many of my knowledgable friends, and nobody knows.

Maybe someone else has experienced this, or has an idea, Help would be greatly appreciated.Eric

It sounds like your ignigtion system is arcing. It is less likely to occur if you're not in gear because the engine isn't under load. Usually it's a sign of crappy wires, a bad coil, bad distributor or cap, or rotor. Sounds like you've covered most of those possibilities. It is possible to get a bad set of wires even brand new. The insulation could be defective at some point along the line. Try putting the old wires on and see if it happens. Beyond that I'm not sure what it could be. I would say that something is shorting in the ignition system though.... my best guess.

I had a similar altinator problem.. sometimes it could provide a charge, and sometimes not, it beat the heck out of my battery.. but if you let it sit for some time, the battery would build up a bit of a charge.. made things irattic..

my only other guess would be fuel pump fritzin out.. best of luck

could be rust in the gas tank....it would have been fixed when you put in new gas because the new gas brings the rust to the top or pushes it around away from the strainer.....i had to clean mine out with meurotic(sp?) acid last week because it was rusted to hell..then installed a new strainer...car runs better than ever-

Well, I pulled my plugs, normal carbon build up, a little more because its running a little rich. Took about 15 cranks to keep it running today, cranks idles up, then drops and cuts out, I give it gas, it goes up then cuts out, finally get it running and does the f'd up stuff, would a fuel pump cause it to do something feeling like the gov.'s kicking in? It never does it long enough, or at the right time to show someone else. Eric

Sounds like its fuel related to me. It could be a fuel pump, or there could be a clog, leak, or a kink in the line somewhere. as for going about fixing it, thats a whole different story.

Have you tried checking your MAF? It could have gone bad or the connections to it are loose.
