Well, I've got two problems and one question thats just out of curiosity.

First, the problems.

1) This has happened 3 or 4 times. I'll shut my door, nothing happens, i'll come back out 30 min. later and the driver's window is a little less than halfway down. The only times this has happened is when its hot out, and it never happens in my garage.

2)The backing of my seat has somehow detached itself and doesnt want to stay on. I can see at the top there are hooks, i can hook them in, but at the bottom are two holes in the seat backing and two white small rods with buttons on the end that fit into the holes. The holes are only about 1/4 in. think though, and only one will hook at a time. I have no idea how it came off, but its really pissing me off when i'm in the parking lot of my school and dumbass kids ask me "Are you keeping drugs in there?"

and the curiosity question.

On my car, and i'd assume it's like this on all 98 and below infinitis, you have to push a button next to the light control on the dash to enable cruise control, then you have to hit the switch on the steering wheel. I've seen mods where you can easily make it where the cruise switch is always on, but are there any disadvantages to this? I would think there were since Nissan bothered to put the switch there. Q45tech or one of you other genius folk, you probably know the answer.

Thanks guys.

window falling down is most likely a failing regulator, about 200 to fix at dealer, nissan has used this separate cruise on/off switch at least since 1979{my 79z & 96q has it},other brands,IE GM,do not use this, maybe a safety issue?as far as the seat, maybe try fastening a strip of velcro tape to the 2 surfaces?cheaper than going to an upholestry shop, and still removable to store that stash!

On question 1, there may be another subtle answer (i.e., other than the regulator being busted, which is the more likely cause). On my 95 Q45, if you held the "open" button down on the remote for more than a few seconds, then the front windows would automatically roll down too. Kind of a neat feature - lets hot air out of the car when you are walking up to it! :)

I discovered that my office desk was close enough to the Q that I would sometimes set off the alarm (horn sound alerted me) or sometimes unlock and roll down the windows (without knowing about it ... once the remote fob beep stopped functioning) when sitting down and the remote was in my trouser pocket! I learned to toss my remote key fob into my desk when I got to work! :D

that was my initial thought also!but when he didnt say both windows,or the car being unlocked,i jumped to the unfortunate default of the troublesome nissan regulators!

The Crimestopper II remote start/keyless system for my 92Q has a toggle switch on it in case you had a second car with the same system. I just use it as an on/off switch.

Good point! I did not note that it was just the driver side window. Most likely the regulator is failing!

I've always wondered about that, as well. On my 2000 I30t, the on/off button is on the steering wheel, behind the cancel button, and it is MUCH easier to use.

My old Honda would keep the crusie button engaged all the time. Now I hit the recirc. button on the A/C, and the cruise button, every time I get in the car. It gets to be old habbit, after a while.

On my 98 Max, if the doors are locked, I unlock with the fob, then hold down the unlock for several seconds to roll down the front windows only. I haven't tried it without the doors being locked first.

Figured that out by accident when once approaching the car in the pouring rain, guess I was clenching the fob 'unlock' button while running to the car.
