Haha, not really but I figured that would get your attention. I'm actually new here.
And I have 2 questions; 1. Why is it that we're members of a DISCUSSION group yet people are encouraged to search for previous discussions prior to discussing their question?
I never understood that about forums.

Anyway, on to the real question; 2. Not only am I new here, I'm new to 240sx' as well. I'm going to be acquiring a fairly decent (I hope) example of an s13. The only reason I know it's an s13 is because he states that in his ad.
I just wanted to get expert opinions and knowledge as to what I should look for in purchasing it. What should turn me away or keep me involved at all costs?

I hope nobody gets too mad that I didn't search, i have to goto work in a minute and I don't really have time and this idea just hit me, so here we are. If you do get upset for my lack of search then please see question 1. of my theorem, wonders of the s13. Thank you and good day.
I hope I remembered to space things properly this time. Shut up, you're talkin to yourself again. s***.

The sad/crazy part is that this site has actually been around since 1997, and is conceivably older than many of its new members.

Anyway - Do you know what year S13 you're looking at? 89 and 90 had a single over head 2.4l 4 cylinder, and 91+ models had a dual overhead cam 2.4l 4 clinder. They also had about 10 more horsepower.
Do you know if it is a coupe or a hatchback? If it has a spoiler, check the hatch for rust. In fact, just check everywhere for rust. The rocker panels, the strut towers, under the carpet in front of the rear seat/around the front seats if you can.

Damn clickbait, haha! :)

240s are just like other cars. Look into used car purchasing tips, there are so many listed it would be silly to type it all up again...

That reminds me of asking questions that have already been answered by others. The answer is already there and can be found with a search. Asking again requires someone to put in the effort to assemble and present the same answer all over again. Does that happen once or twice here and there, that wouldn't be a big deal would it? No, it happens all the time, so it get's old for those who attempt to answer each "old" question for each "new" person that asks it. Run some scenarios through your imagination and see if that helps understand the promotion and encouragement of searching in a forum. Keep in mind, the people providing the answers are not getting paid any more than a thank you, if that.

And that's why I'll just go to a different forum and you'll continue to lose members here.
Forums are for people to talk to each other, if you'd rather me just search up my answer and not partake in any discussion why even have a forum in the first place?
It might as well be a wiki.
Welp, see ya around. And I will make sure to cancel my membership here or delete my account or however I go about making one less user here. That way, if enough people do it the advertising won't be worth s*** and it'll eventually close up. I've seen it far too many times, all because people don't want to talk and b**** about somebody not using search.
So basically you just want to talk about recipes on a car site and what? Cars on a recipe site? Bye.

Are you saying bye or are you available for discussion? I mean, is that not what we were doing? I surely regret making my reply. I made an attempt top engage in your discussion topic, both the real and the lessor topic. It certainly wasn't one sided or absolute, even generic in regards to forums (not just this one). Are my ideas so far off from yours that it's not worth considering going forward? We haven't even gotten to the great analogy of people talking together in a room, like a forum or conversations being threads. I'm kind of surprised and disappointed in you _KNoX_, but I can adjust my expectations.

So, instead of typing up the things I might look for in a 240, which wasn't a generic question; I'm quite familiar with what to look for in a pre-owned vehicle (perhaps I should've been somewhat more specific) I rather wanted to know what to look for in a 240. Basically, what's a good example vs. a poor example. But instead of typing up a reply about those specifics you wasted the time typing up an essay as to why the search feature is fundamental and it's uses in forums.

But really, ya know, if I would've searched: what to look for in a used 240sx, then if it found exact phrases it would've came up with nothing because that's not how anyone asks that question and if it found individual words then it would've returned almost every post ever made here. Unless of course it omitted the common 3 letter words like "the" and "and", then I would've had just %85 of the posts.

Okay though, all asinine behavior aside, if I would've searched and actually came up with something then I would've maybe posted my thoughts on what I found and perhaps asked for verification about the facts and the authors who stated the facts and it would've been a big sloppy mess of who's who and what's what.

So I just thought this way was somewhat better or maybe easier or maybe just more conversation oriented and since I'm lonely I just wanted someone to talk to. Is that so wrong?

You hurt my feelings. I hope you're happy!

No one comes in and bishez at my staff after giving an honest helpful answer. We don't need people like you here. GTFO.

Yeah? Like the copycat 240 forums that started AFTER we did? Good luck finding them. :)
BTW, our traffic is up a consistent 5-6% each year, like clockwork. See, there's this tool called Analytics, and it drives everything we do.

Because not every question has been beaten to death. Yours has.
Once you get the basics (via a search, and some reading), you'd probably have a much better (and more informed) question. Or five. And other members are great about helping people who help themselves. :yesnod

We're that too. And a huge resource. And a thriving community. We're all kinds of cool things. :dblthumb:

That's not your call. That's mine. You're in my house, and you don't walk your whiny millennial arse in here telling people what to do.

What a novel idea. We've never heard that one before.... this week. :bowrofl:

Yeah? Where? "Far too many" sounds like a lot. Name three. To yourself.

Peace out, kiddo. Consider this a learning experience from a father of four (all who are older and more respectful than you).

Good luck with your quest for a 240.
