Hello all! I recently installed a new head unit in my J and am wondering if anyone needs/wants my factory unit. Everything works on it including all of the back lighting. Let me know! [email protected]

I'm not sure what it's worth, make me an offer. No amps or speakers, just the deck. The back speakers were trash from sunlight damage and I modified the door speaker box to accept 5 and 1/4's.

Was it pretty easy to change out the stereo, I am about to change mine as well. When I turn my stereo on it just emmits a very loud high tone that is unbearable to listen too. I would be intersted. I will give you 50 bucks for the stereo.Let me know.

You didn't by any chance hang on to the small individual amplifier boards that attach to the back of each speaker?

Sounds more like you may have at least one bad speaker amplifier board (each speaker has one). They fail in a number of ways, one of which results in a deafeningly loud buzz. Start by disconnecting wires at the speakers, one speaker at a time and with the rears. The boards are simple to replace and expensive to have repaired.

I do have the amps, they are slightly molested though. Just a couple of cut wires. If you are any good with a solder gun, you would be able to re-solder your wiring to the boards. Shoot me an email with your info if you want. I'm sure we can work something out that's in your favor.

Replacing the stereo was a bit time consuming but not at all technically challenging. I ran new speaker wire to the back and was able to determine which two wires to use on either side up front with an ohm meter. I was originally going to run new wire for the front but after sticking my head under the dash, thought better of it. It's pretty much impossible to install anything in the wiring sleeve between the door and the body. I used an adapter from Crutchfield for the power, which made figuring out the antenna sense very easy. Also, I had to use an adapter for the antenna cable, as that Motorola plug is not very standard. All the adapters came with the stereo, free of charge, from Crutchfield.
