Since I joined this forum, it seems people are not really into bullbars. Understandable, fearing the damage in slow moving accidents.
I speak from only my experience, to make a long story short. A person slammed on their brakes right after passing a green light at an intersection ( personally I felt they were an intentional brake scammer for insurance fraud) while in front of a Lexus IS350 which was only 6 months old with an elderly guy in it. The elderly guy was able to stop but I hit his Lexus. The elderly guy didn't blame me and the cop never gave me a ticket, but of course it was my fault. The brake slammer fled after the Lexus hit me of course.
Who would think that going through a green, I would have to slam my brakes after passing under the green light literally.
So the point I am trying to make was my bullbar was smashed during that 10-15 mph hit I presumed. Bumper had some scratches and 2 holes from the bar, I don't know if it prevented any further damage or decreased it. Nothing under the car was bent or damaged. The Lexus had a few scratches and holes Since our bumpers was plastic all they had to do was heat it up to repair the holes.

Before accident. My bumper protector license frame for parking couldn't help me here, but I wonder if it helped absorbed the collision. It was bent badly too.

After accident, but as you can see, I am good as new and the Rogue is stronger as ever. No less for wear.
I also know that I did not really tighten the bullbar as good as I could at that time because I only had certain tools so the bullbar had some give so when it struck the lexus, it went up to absorb some impact. Still I do not know if that helped.
If I tighten it to the max, and it stood it's ground, perhaps it would have pushed harder into my engine compartment? Who knows.
But anyways, the bull bar is attached to very long radiator bolts and another anchor where it is screwed to some engine mount inside (smaller screw) There are 2 nice size solid brackets in my case at least.
So is this a weak spot? I am not an expert, but personally it's strong enough for my taste. I tighten it enough where you will absolutely not be able to budge it. If you grab the bullbar you can shake the Rogue as a whole. It's going no where.
I also made a U-turn once and misjudged a curb and hit a corner of my bullbar. I really thought I damaged the right front end because it made a loud crash like I dented my car. Scared the passengers. But I only found a chip on the bottom of bullbar ( not the curved part) which was really nothing and I fixed it with some malleable welding stuff.
I hit a bank of grass, of course nothing happened.
Never really hit the bullbar on anything 99% of time. Just be careful of steep driveways and curbs which I do with normal cars anyways. I have good clearance really. Almost close to a normal sedan. I measured it in the past and is somewhere on this forum.
I reordered another bullbar and paid for it myself. Really not that expensive. I like the blue sticker since it matches my Rogue.
If your on the fence on it, I would recommend a bullbar for looks and preventing damage in parking lots. I have never been hit on the front in a parking lot ever since. If you don't like the looks, then pass on it.
Just my experience.
