I was in a freak accident on tuesday that totaled my much loved M35 with 44k and my air bags saved my life for sure.
I have been in really sore , heartbroken and bewildered but I believe I have found a replacement car today, much
to my surprise after considering virtually every , subaru, nissan, mazda, lexus etc, it occurred to me that I really
needed something bigger than a conventional trunk because of some disabilty issues, I came across a 2008 EX35
with the following packages. My m35 had every possible option besides spoiler and some other minor add on.
Infiniti Navigation Package
Luxe Elite Package
Maple Wood Trim
Navigation Booklet
Premium Package
Technology Package
I don't often carry passengers other than my wife and this beautiful white car is uplifting my spirits. It's got a wheat
interior with the dark maple trim. I couldn't stand thinking about driving a subaru outback, so I'm calling the dealer
Saturday and asking them to pick me up to do the deed, what do you guys think? The color is moonlight white, 12"
shorter than my shockingly wrecked m35, did I miss anything package wise, it doesn't seem so. I've enjoyed this
community.. My wife who doesn't even like cars, loved my M from day one and cried when she saw it sitting in my
driveway, a horribly disfigured , twisted mess. I haven't had a white cars in 35 years and I an psyched.

Welcome aboard! Terribly sorry to hear about your M, but cars can be replaced. Glad you're OK!

At the risk of sounding morbid, is there any chance you'd share pictures of the car?

I can take a picture of my M which is painful to look at, but the full sized pickup truck I hit had a huge trailer hitch which actually'
made my from frame into a huge V. The adjuster who came to inspect the vehicle could not believe what the trailer hitch had done.
20 years ago I am sure I would not have survived this accident. It's a testament to the tremendous safety crumple zones they have
created.
I thank you for your welcoming to this community, as I believe all infiniti drivers are a little compulsive about seeking perfection,
or did I just tip my hand. I have been researching everything from every manufacturer since the crash, and I must admit I was really
ignorant about the infiniti offerings and as it turns out it seems as if, spec wise, the ex35 will have more front headroom than my M
and a relatively huge cargo capability compared to the M35 trunk, so this may actually be an upgrade of sorts.

firstly and most importantly, we are glad you are ok. Sorry to hear about the M but like AZ said, cars can be replaced and it sounds like you have found a good one. It sounds like you have really researched car replacements and I dont see why the EX35 wouldnt be a good one for you as it is similar to the M in features but offers more rear room like you desire. One thing to keep in mind is to not let your desire and excitement to replace the M blind you when it comes to negotiations with the dealer. Its just as important to research fair market value after you have decided on the vehicle you want so you dont overpay. Best of luck and keep us informed on how things go... with pictures too of course.

Whoa! Glad you're still w/us. As has been said; machines can be replaced-as you have proven. Sounds like a great choice. Enjoy!

If it's not too traumatic, it would be useful to actually see how the M performed in your accident.

I just picked up my fully loaded ex35 with 43k today, the only thus equipped car in the bay area.
I drove it home and it's perfect. Have to take my wife the airport tonight then I will post mind
boggling pics of the wrecked M35.
It's nice, comforting even to get support from total strangers, and I thank you.

is there anyway to post a photo directly to this forum? I tried but left a face book link in this forum.
People that stopped to help me as I staggered from my wrecked M were really nice. There was an unusual ethnic mix to it with one lovely young woman who call AAA for me and waited online till they got around to picking up the phone. If I was 30 years younger I might have be smitten by the lovely heart she presented. Beauty inside and out doesn't present itself everyday.M people are really spoiled because I know that going back down the line would have been
awful. The day before I bought my M I actually test drove a late model Lexus full sedan, although nice, there was zero involvement other than to float around going look at me!!!!!!!!!!

You have to load the pics to a site like photobucket etc, (facebook should work) and then copy the direct link to it and then hit the "Img" button which will make 2 [img] symbols. You then paste the link between the 2 symbols and when you hit submit it should show the pic in your actual post. You can use the "preview" button too just to make sure it worked before you submit your post.

I think for relatively brain healthy human beings, there is an endogenous trait built into us; to help one another in an emergency. It might have been put there by evolution. Those that did so survived and passed their seed on. Those that did not, did not survive and that strain of human being did not survive the evolutionary climb out of the mud.

Interestingly, this trait is kinda' like free association. Without even thinking it manifests itself. The problem though with too many of us is that man's intellect too often gets in the way. We rather than act on the innate immediate impulse for action, begin thereafter to start thinking about the impulse and weighing the pros & cons of such action; too often delaying the action or not acting such at all.

Yes, fall in love with that innate human beauty. May it: "Live long and prosper." Image

At the end of the day, I have been having second thoughts about not getting something like a 2008 M35 or M45.
Problem is that the few that I have seen in my area don't have all of the premium packages I am used to. Spoiled rotten is more like it. If I could find a loaded 2008 m35 or 45 in my area I might be tempted enough to go for it.
Paying tax on two cars is not fun, but my insurance settlement was pretty amazing and I am at the I want what I want age. Any thoughts?

Expand your search - You'll have a hard time "downgrading" - get what you WANT.

Find one in another state and have it shipped. There's NICO people all over the US who could go inspect a car for you.

AZhitman,
wow, NICO people all over the US, that is beyond amazing and somewhat spiritually uplifting as well.
In fact I would help someone in a similar fashion and in fact have directly saved the lives of 5 people
in my lifetime, and if one believes in Karma, I might have fashioned some for myself. In a few of the
cases that I was fortunate enough to be able to help other people, my own life was put in direct jeopardy
and in fact, I was not aware of that, until I thought about it afterwards. In times of great stress, we, as
people simply take action by instinct or something akin to destiny. So, I'm still alive although somewhat banged
up, many people stopped to give me aid and comfort.
The fact that there are NICO people all over, almost gave me a chill and a bit of hope that I might find
what I am looking for. In the end the thought of finding an upgraded duplicate of a car that saved my life
seemed to be what I really wanted,
thanks for the words of hope

That's what we're here for.

It's a good feeling to know that you can go almost anywhere in the US, and if you need a hand, there's usually someone within 100 miles who would lend assistance - just because you're a member of this community.

AZhitman, and all
I know it's a special community of like minded people. The M35 saved my life, for sure, and I feel compelled in a strange way to replace it as it
feels as though it gave it's very existence to protect me. Does it sound weird that in some way I would be honoring the car and the people that
designed it to do just that. The crumple zone offset frontal crash technology was not available 15 or 20 years ago.
I found a 2008, with tech package and advanced tech package with 20,000 miles down the road for me, just became listed, and the dealer has
to give me a break of some sort to take back the EX35 , I've had for 8 days so I can afford to get out of the car for Maybe $7,000 or a bit more
with new tax. I wonder if I was brave enough to buy a car out of state, would I have to pay in state taxes, here that's about $3,000 and first thing
that comes to mind is Oregon, no sales tax.
All of a sudden I got back this emotional attachment to this fine motor car, can't help it, but you all know what I'm talking about

Keith,

When you buy something out of state, taxes are tricky, technically you aren't supposed to have to pay taxes in that state (and in my experience, you usually won't on cars but will on small stuff), but you are always supposed to pay sales tax in your state (and when you register the car you bought out of state, they will charge them unless you have proof you paid them in another state [sales taxes paid in another state are credited toward sales taxes in your state, so you pay the difference but don't get a refund if the other state charges more]). This is true for online sales as well, the "Internet sales tax moratorium" just prevents the online retailer from being forced to charge different sales taxes based on ship to (so they don't have to keep track of hundreds, if not thousands of different rates and jurisdictions). Sales taxes for items bought out of state (that aren't vehicles) are supposed to be paid when filing your annual income tax statement, and in my experience, if you file your own taxes, you can't not know this. However, it is believable that the majority of people actually do not know this due to the fact that they go to H&R block or whatever and since the tax agent is trying to get you the biggest refund for competitive purposes, they may conveniently forget to ask if you bought anything out of state or without paying sales taxes.

Another thing to consider when buying a car out of state is you need to know what is required to register it in your state (may just be a bill of sale and an inspection at the point of registration, but could be more or less). This has never prevented me from buying a car out of state (last two came from Florida and Texas, in that order), but if the dealer down the street will treat you right and you are going to get your service there, that would certainly be the easiest route. Note, of course, that the sales and service departments aren't necessarily connected and don't necessarily communicate, so buying the car there if they aren't treating you right and/or giving you a good deal probably won't be incredibly beneficial.

I just wanted to make this post as I found an 2008 m35 with 20k miles, what a deal advanced tech and tech packages, Slate Blue
with graphite interior . It cost me some money to swap it out, but at the end of the day I am just happy to get back into an M35.
The tires on it are the stock Goodyear Eagle RS that are high performance tires, and I have two hankook Hankook Ventus V12 Evo K110
245/45R18XL 100Y VSB tires I bought for backup that would mean I would only need to buy two more tires. I was almost ready to buy
a set of the all season goodyear assurance comfortred grand touring tires that have the highest passenger car rating son tirerackl. So
I'm looking for options?

The Link above has 3 photos from my crashed Infiniti that saved my life. After purchasing an EX35 and owning
it for one week, I took it back to the dealership, took a loss on it, found a pristine Blue Slate with graphite interior
that had 20,200 miles on it, and it was really loaded with everything I wanted like my old M. The 2008 has some
styling updates and I have more room in it and I'm so glad that I didn't have to settle, and you all know how spoiled
one becomes driving what most consider a luxury sedan. I had two brand new Hankook ultra performance tires that
I had on my old M which I liked, so I just ordered two more so I can replace the oem Goodyear eagle RS tires. I even
have two backup unkeyed M35 remotes not activated yet.
the tires that I am putting back on, pretty good ratings on tire rack are:
Hankook Ventus V12 Evo K110 245/45R18XL 100Y VSB

In case you are unaware, you should confirm that those have the same FCC ID as your new ones. If they don't, they won't work with your new M and you might as well go ahead and sell them. I've also seen a post that indicates the IC number has to be the same. I assume the IC is Canada's version of the FCC, but regardless of whether I am correct in that regard or not, I don't know whether or not the FCC ID and IC number can be mixed and matched.
