Ive been tossing around the idea of doing an SR swap on my 89 hatch for a couple months now, but a recent school project has pushed me to get off my butt and do it. At my high school, i have an Engineering class where we get to pick problems to solve and for my semester project, i chose to do an SR swap. After a long discussion with my teacher he said that if i get the motor running properly in my car, then i will have an A for the whole semester! That day after class, i checked my funds and made a call to Jeff at Heavy throttle. I ordered an S13 blocktop, Greddy FMIC, Type RS BOV/ hotpipe, Megan Racing 02housing and downpipe along with their easy install kit. As part of the rules for my school project i have to document every step of the process. Here are just a few pics of what ive done so far... Im still waiting on the motor and the rest of my parts. Tell me what you guys think, and any advice would be very well appreciated! Thanks

Dan

I'll assume that the easy install kit can help you with the ower steering line issue.

Looks good so far. Good luck and post more pics!

The easy install kit includes belts, radiator hoses, and heater hoses. Be careful, the heater hose for the upper heater inlet is a little too large. My friend tightened it down a little too much and my inlet snapped. I ended having to replace my heater core which is no fun. I would get an adapter and smaller hose that fits the heater core inlet better.

I'd reccomend Wiring Specialties for your wiring, $100

Don't forget a boost gauge and MBC! And with those greddy BOV it's always nice to have the decel-air feature with a SAFCII that you could pickup for $250.

Good luck, keep us posted!

the motor does come with the transmission, wiring harness, ecu, maf and ignitor . The part number for the upper radiator hose is 20065 I also forgot to mention that i ordered the Walbro 255lph fuel pump, a boost gauge, oil pressure gauge, and an air fuel gauge. As part of the stipulation for my school project part of it, i have to fabricate something for the swap, so im gonna put the car in the lift at school, and weld a cat back for it. My friend also says it wont be hard to make a manual boost controler, but im gonna look into that more first, any advice on that would be greatly appreciated also.

Thanks! Dan

my buddy is in the process of swapping in a VG30ET into is 92 coupe so we're gonna trade powersteering lines and resoviors. He's also giving me his tach because he doesnt think he'll be able to get his to work with that motor.

lol, yeah. im not going to complain about it though, besides a slight oil leak, i had an unusually healthy single cam KA. My buddy has a completely stock SR with just a catback, and he was barely pullin on me when we raced. The motor did me well.
