...Maybe not for some of the other guys if it has to be listed and spelled out. I'm glad I'm not one of them;)

Manners are rare now a days. which just makes the people (not just men) who exhibit them, stand out more. at least to me.

I open the door all the time for girls around my school, help them pick stuff up if they drop it etc... nobody really cares- I dont even know what they're talking about with this "decline of manners" crap, cause whenever I do that kinda stuff girls just take it for granted like I was supposed to do it or something. Makes me wanna let the door slam on their face sometimes...

I'm usually go out of my to be polite, even if nobody notices. I just think it's the right thing to do.

I girl I know though listed one of the reasons for breaking up with her boyfriend (aside from him cheating on her... twice) as, "He was too polite. I can open my own damn doors, thank you!"

'nuff said.

It's the opposite here... in college here, if you hold doors for girls and pick stuff up, they'll always say politely say "thank you" back and likewise they'll pick stuff up for you if you drop it.

I think there's too many girls out there, especially here at KU that are obsessed with this women/men equality thing. Is it really saying we're better than women to hold the door for them? or help them carry in their groceries? or help them when they drop things? I always thought this was considered chivalry or "good manners". Guess I'm wrong. :rolleyes

LOL!

Most of those were pretty damn funny, but a couple of the responses were over the line to me.

Dude, i know exactly what you mean. my GF and her best friend used to be totally against chivalry, and i think her friend still is. i would open the door and hold it for them and they wouldnt go in. they would wait till i got tired and let the door shut before they would walk in. but my GF has moved on and now sees it as just a good manners thing from me, and she holds the door for me sometimes. but her friend is still like that, so i just let the door shut in her face. but i have noticed that people in college are way more polite. they say thank you when you hold the door, and hold it for you also.

I usually sniff her butt first to see if she's good to go, then I give her my bone. My dog swears it's the way to go but the restraining orders are starting to pile up. Apparently peeing on her house to tell other guys she's mine is frowned upon as well.:(

see the problem is that women aren't consistent, some like it when you hold open doors and pull out chairs and things like that, and some give you attitude even though i'm just tryin to be a nice guy

where's the consistency?????

all women need to get togehter and decide, either we let them be chivalrous to us or not, and then tell us so i don't have to read the mind of every girl that i know, and have to geuss as to whetehr or not i should do these things

just my thoughts, have had good and bad experinces with this subject

yeah, same here. some hate it and think that you are trying to undermine them, and some see it as a nice act, good manners. it sucks when you hold the door for one girl and she says thanks, and the next girl says you're a jerkass.

they usually call me a jerkass for checking out the uh rear bumper when they walk in

some girls dig it when you stand up to a guy being rude to them though:) I've gotten my *** kicked several times now...

well ok, not really, I'm usually a polite and kind person(unless they chew on their gum like an 80's teen movie bully), but I thought that'd be funny to say

pirates! breakdancing! i'm in tears

seriously, being a chick, i have to say i appreciate good manners. i don't get pissed with something as innocuous as holding the door open. wtf... i hold the door open for everyone. it's rude to slam it in somebody's face, when they're walking behind you. pulling out chairs is fine. i don't expect it usually, so i almost fall down. but i't appreciated. :D

and as for college, yes, i've noticed the politeness. usually if somebody at campus doesn't hold the door open for me. when i'm right behind them. i end up swinging it open and the door bangs against the wall. then i give them the 'evil eye'

dont get me started about rude people. i'll rant till tommorow noon.

call me silly, but i don't understand why being a "good guy" (or good gal for that matter) doesn't come naturally for most people. it's like a reflex for me to open a door for someone, pick up something someone dropped, or greet someone that i just happen to make eye contact with. i feel sorry for those who can't even put forth an effort to be courteous.

don't let other people's bad manners change you. imo, getting upset because someone didn't show some common courtesy is almost the same as being ill mannered yourself.

hey, yeah! i always wondered that too. all these girls i met who i thought might like me, ended up going out with a guy who ended up treating them like poop. the guy either cheated ont hem, ignored them, didnt talk to them, or something. and i was like, "HEY! im a nice guy who wont do that ****! go out with me!" and then they would break up with the bad guy, and be like (in girlie voice)"wow seth, you're a great guy, really nice, and not treating girls like poop" so i thought, 'sweet, shes gonna go out with me'....but no (back to girlie voice) "so i found this new guy, hes really cool and i think hes dreamy" (me) "aw, thats really good" but thinking 'damnnit! its me you want, me!!!' later on, the guy treats he like dirt and she breask up with him, and hey its seth to the rescue, but no such luck. anyways, enough ranting. i still like all my female friends, closer to them more than guys, and i have agreat girlfriend who loves me and puts up with me, which isnt a tough job.

gah. that's so true-- i've had enough ex-bf's to teach me that lesson. i only go for nice guys. except for the ones who put on the facade of being a nice guy, and those are usually easy to see through. :D

What really sucks is when you like a girl and she is flirting with you acting like she really wants to go out with you, then the next day is the exact oppisite. Then they start flirting with your friends who you introduced to her not thinkin' it would be any harm. Then she dates many a moron, and finally ends up with one of your friends. All the while you are talking to her consoleing her and what not. It is bull**** I say. Damn it pisses me off. Not that I've had this happen or anything. I swear... I'm a pimp really...ok so i'm not. :( So yeah that pisses me off.
