Hey Guys! Thanks in advance for any help!:help I have noticed, while driving my car, that from about 15mph to 17mph my car shakes. Whether it is in gear or not... Right around those speeds the rear of the car seems to shake and not a little bit but NOTICEABLE! I am thinking that it might be that my struts are going, but I am not certain... The car also has the 'shaking when I take off hard, and even when the car is in neutral and decelerating to the 17mph zone....

I just want to know what I am dealing with and such. Is there anything else that might be causing this? Or anything else that I might want to check?

Before anyone tells me this: I have heard the whole deal to check your struts about putting weight on one of the struts and letting up quickly, if it bounces up and down then the struts are shot.... But when I do it they don't seem to bounce much if any.... Not sure if there isn't enough weight or b/c the 240's aren't too heavy it isn't as noticeable... Either way I need some help from you guys!

Any input is appreciated!

hmm...did you have a clutch installed or transmission removed at all? How 'bout the driveshaft? If not...maybe the driveshaft isnot aligned properly and there's an unbalance of it. Check under your car for lost bolts on the driveshaft and make sure the white marks (maybe under some dirt where the diff connects) are aligned.

Yeah I have a rattling coming from mine too but it is when you go over bumps and really bad when u go on gravel roads. Mine alost sounded like the rear end was falling tout from under it. Check this post it may help.http://www.nissaninfiniticlub....68917

I have bought me some sub-frame spacers off ebay for like 50bucks. Havent got them in yet so i dont know if that will fix the problem or not but i think it should fix mine. You can search under suspension and steering and then under other on ebay and sometimes they have them. I think there is alot of sets on there now if you checkhttp://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=42609&item=7905239204&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

check those out if u want too. Oh and if you look at old posts one person has a few pictures of them on his car so you can see exactly where they go. I looked but i couldnt find it for you. I thought the name of the thread was like "clunking from my struts please help" or something. that is where i found out about them at. Hope I helped and will let u know if they fix my rattling or not.

Thanks a lot guys! So are you guys suggesting that it might not be bad struts and that it might be something else??

And Chingon: I have a new OEM clutch, and my transmission has been rebuilt... Had it in the shop twice after the rebuild b/c of other little problems with the transmission :(

if your struts dont spring back at all, they could be blown.

Yeah and subframe bushings is just something else to check into too. They may not be it but they are worth checking.:D

then try checking what I told you....there should be marks where the factory, or at least the guys from the shop should have used to align the shaft correctly. Also, sometimes the mechanics don't use the correct torque specs and this may cause inbalance in the rotating assemblies.

I checked the stuff... Well what I knew how to check anyway... Didn't see anything wrong...

Actually there were a few things:

I found that there were two bolts on the engine to transmission cover mounts that were noticeably loose... Tighted them (close to factory tightness, as far as I can tell anyway...)

And I also noticed something else... on the back of the transmission there is a flange (to keep dirt out I guess) that covers the end of the propeller shaft. (I believe that is what it is called, it is before the drive shaft...) Well anyway, that flange has part of it broken off. Like when it was in the shop it got dropped or a tool hit it hard.... I can't prove that is what happened or I would have the shop fix it!!!

Other than that stuff I saw nothing wrong. And after I took it for a spin I noticed no change in the vibrations. And I have noticed a few little squeaks from the front of the car when I first take off (expecially if it is a moderately hard take off)

Now one thing did surface... Don't know if I should start a new thread or not though... Definitely not suspension problem....

Anyway, when I got back in the car after checking the stuff, I went to start the car and the clutch hit the floor! I was pissed! I know that it isn't the clutch (had a new one put in 2 years ago and when the transmission was rebuilt they told me the clutch was as good as new) But after a little bit the clutch had some engagement... but only near the floorboards. Enough to get it into gear and move it. Now after driving around town some there is a good bit more engagement in it, but still not as much as there used to be, only about half of the whole movement affects the clutch.

The only thing that I can think happened was that when I was under the car I hit the 'withdraw lever' a few times on accident and pushed it in when I bumped it. It seemed to go back into the original position so I didn't worry........ My only thought is that when I pushed it in I somehow got air into the system (thus causing the lack of clutch engagement and the variation of engagement...) I am going to attempt to follow the FSM and bleed out the clutch (hopefully that works) tomarrow and see what happens!

Do you guys have any ideas on my clutch situation? I believe that I will post another thread though, since it isn't involved with this one. Thanks though!
