I think my timing chain guides broke off... Is my engine completely gone?

Today I received good news from a mechanic who told me my car was fixed, but when he test drove it just to make sure my car suddenly died on the street, and he said that he heard a clunk sound when it suddenly died/lost power.

My question is, is my engine totally dead if the guides broke off, or is that only with the timing chain breaking? I hope it's only the guides

They are unnesecary, but if they actually break off within the engine while its running it can cause some issues. Chunks of metal possibly being caught on the chain or somehow ending and messing up the cams and timing gears is bad.

Maybe you will get lucky like i did. When i went to change the upper chain guide it wasnt there and i thought it was already removed. Upon looking closer though i saw that it was broken, and there was still a piece of it under the screws that hold it on But yea, i got lucky and nothing seemed to happen.

I believe that the engine is an interference engine though, so if the chain snapped there might be a good chance the the pistons would have struck the cylinder head which equals a dead engine. Im not 100% sure so someone correct me if necessary.

And this is a KA right? I have no idea about SR's or CA's and whatnot.

sock the mechanic. he proably messed your car up. when my friends ka24de gave out, it was because he forgot that engines require oil. not smart.

is it natural for my car to suddenly die and completely lose power if a guides breaks off while the car is running? and is this even fixable? how would you go about making the engine properly work again?.
