i think my problem has been found

primary problem: start car, rough idle, dies (however, if i hold the clutch it, it just keeps trying to die, but won't. to me, that seems to rule out the possibility of a vaccuum leak, since it should die with the clutch in or out)

secondary problem: boost controller not working (yet it's wired into the radio along with my gauges and turbo timer, and those work)

possible/hopeful solution discovered: orange(?) wire into the ecu is loose/bad/something

what wire is the orange(?) ecu wire? and where does it go?

maybe not.

turns out that the ecu isn't advancing. and there's no way to read it with a scanner because the enthalpy tune apparently locks out everything.

and my boost controller is just dead... i guess we all get lemons sometimes :\
