I just replaced my PCV valve and now my car is starting to smoke under the hood. The smoke smells like antifreeze, but the car is not overheating. I just heard that a PCV valve should only be tightened until snug, and I tightened mine until most of the threads were in the hole. I hope that solving this problem will be as easy as loosening the PCV valve.

Inspect it according to EC-24. Did you use an OEM part?

You're lucky that the PCV valve is so accessible. On VQ35DEs in Pathfinders, it's buried under the upper and lower intake manifolds.

No I just ordered the cheapest PCV valve I could find on Ebay. If that friggin new PCV is causing the problem then I'm gonna dig the old one out of the trash and put it back on.

I would use an OEM PCV valve only. Cheapo aftermarket parts may open at the incorrect pressure or be inferior in construction in other ways.

I found the problem and fixed it. What happened was this, I took the clamp off the hose that goes on the PCV valve, then I pulled the hose off, after that I put a 21mm wrench on my PCV valve. I didn't take the clamp off the hose to the left of the PCV valve, so when I turned the wrench it hit that hose and smashed the clamp. This caused the hose to split. I found out that this is a coolant hose, so I took a razor and cut the hose and reclamped it, and problem solved. I had lost alot of coolant by the way, so I had to fill up my radiator and reservoir for good measure. If I would have kept driving I would have ran out of coolant then my ride would begin to overheat. I'm just glad this problem is solved, it really had me worried.
