I have a 1996 Infiniti G20 and my amps to my speakers are in the trunk. I think my amp to my rear speakers is blown. How do I bypass my bose amp?? I put in a JVC head unit. Is there a way I can bypass it and just use the power from the head unit?? Also can I hook up aftermarket front speakers to my front amp, which is still working.

I'm assuming the the only amp that is in the car is the bose? Did you install the radio yourself? I'm just trying to figure out if there was a hi-low converter in there as well that might add a little more to the possible problems. If there's nothing else in there all you have to do is cut out the amp and hook the appropriate in and out wires to each other.

Yes, I did install it myself. I don't think that there is a hi-lo converter. I don't know how to tell. Now if I get in my car the rear speakers are working sometimes it doesn't. I am wondering if I can just cut the wires at the harness or do I need to run completly new wires?

Easiest way is to just cut and splice the wires at the amp. If they are working intermittently like you say I'd be leaning more towards blown speakers, especially if you didn't put in a high to low. Your going to want to bypass the amp anyway so start there.

Sounds like a plan. The only thing now is that when I got in my car this morning all the speakers worked again. I don't know, I guess I'm gonna do that anyway, but now I'm worried about some wiring that may be screwed up somewhere. Also, I can't figure out how to take out the back speakers. I got the lamp cover off, but nothing else moves.

Sounds like you blew your speakers by distorting the amp. Getting the back speakers out most likely involves pulling the back seat out (it's been a while). Either way though your going to want to bypass the amp as its pretty much useless now.

make sure you fix all problems before replacing things cause then they'll just blow again

Speakers aren't blowed. Can't get the backseat out to get to the speakers. This is getting upsetting.

Double check by looking in the trunk to make sure that the speakers arent screwed in from there. If they arent...

Get into the back seat. Push the cushion IN towards the rear of the car and then UP to get the rear seat out. Now you will need to take the back of the rear seats out. There should be 3 or 4 big bolts on the bottom of the back of the seat that were hidden by the cushion. They usually are attached to the back of the seat with the seatbelt receptors. Take all of them out, then push UP on the back of the seat and then you can pull it out. Now you need to get the rear deck cover out. You will have to remove the center brake light if its on the rear deck. Usually you have to pop off the cover with your hands to expose two screws inside holding it down. Dont forget to unplug it before you rip it out. You will most likely have to remove the C pillar covers as well. After this you will have the rear speakers exposed. Replace them, and put everything back together in reverse order.
