well, ive been blowing coolant hoses a lot lately and next thing i notice today, that my water pump is just dumping water. i guess its really been leaking from there the past couple weeks and not so much the hoses. i know that means its about to die so my thing is, i need to drive home 3 hours... like tomorrow... and i guess i cant just go to the nissan dealer and pick up a pump. any suggestions? what would you do... by the way, i searched the water pump issue... i'm just curious what you guys would do.

Needing a pump in a jiffy kinda sucks. I bought an oem water pump off ebay for like $45+shipping. I dont even think the water pump on the engine that was shipped to me was bad but i replaced it anyways (and i still have the old one). Is water coming out of the weep hole?

You're only option is to mail order a new pump. Courtesy Parts carries them as well as Midway.

I will tell you to not drive the car until the pump is changed. It sucks, but welcome to the world of modriving an imported motor

yeah, that is where i am leaking. the weep hole is letting the coolant out... could i try possibly plugging that hole or something to keep coolant in the motor? i have access to a pump 2 hours away, but yeah, i have to drive there

If I am not mistaken, the hole is there to inform you that the bearing seal is shot, which means your water pump is probably on its way out the door soon.

Your belt wasnt on too tight was it? I dont know how far you could get on plugging up that hole. If its an absolute must, and no other choice, then give it a shot. Just keep a cell phone handy just incase.

well i decided to stock up 5 gallons of water and make the trip without plugging the hole. for some reason, i didnt leak much coolant at all on the highway and i never even had to fill up my coolant reservoir the hole trip. i guess maybe only at idle is when it leaks. so i guess the higher rpms possible prevented the leak and i made it to import intelligence and got a used water pump from them. i think i jus might be ok. thanks for your input guys

You go through all that trouble and worry and now you're gonna put a USED water pump on? WTF?

I see, you're gonna use the used one til the new one arrives. Makes sense
