i did search. not a single thing close to what im thinking.

ok heres the deal i hate how my 3rd gear pulled. quite frankly it sucked balls. my car would rip in 1st and 2nd, hit 3rd and its like it falls on its face, 4th and youve got power again.

so i did a little research and found this out.

a 300zx transmission has a little bit better of a 3rd gear. as well as a much nicer 1st and 2nd. and if i got a .838 from a frontier then i should have a pretty nice gear setup. i played with the gear combos in a nice little calculator i got and got these results:

so the car would scream to its top speed if im gettin this right. might be nice for a drag car. but i dont know if the gears will swap. does anyone have a 300zx transmission they might be willing to donate to the cause for a cheap price? i know that it would suck for gasmilage but i just dont care about it. i would prolly go with a slightly larger tire than listed. maybe some 225/50's so what does everyone think? am i crazy?.

Yes!

No, really, just spend the extra money on the 4.64. Save money for easy but worthwhile mods. If you are a serious drag racer, then I say good idea. But if you are a streeter, than leave your transmission alone, change rear gears, and put on bolt-ons or NOS.

i have almost every bolt on allready. not much more that i can do to it. cam, itbs, flywheel, driveshaft, 4.64, high compression. thats all i can think of left to do to my ka24e, besides turboing it. which i would love to see what it wll do with some gears, before i do any of the other mods, except for maybe flywheel, cam and driveshaft.

all those things you have left to do will make your car run, really run good but your reliability will really run away. DO IT! 4.60s will kill your top speed unless you change the transmission gearing, if its cheap for you to do both(transmission/diff) do it.
