Well before I start this thread, all I will say is

FLAME SUITE>>>> ENGAGED

Well I left my s13 in pensacola fl when my sr putting out 330whp locked up due to very unlucky circumstances. Well I've been living in jacksonville for several months, missing my s13 and paying storage fees, well SHE WILL BE MISSED NO MORE

I decided no explanation is necessary

I'd like to say that the z did better than any truck could have on that trip. 5.5hrs with an empty trailer @70 mph I got 30-31mpg, and with the s13 and 400 pounds of tools and an engine lift in the trunk of it, @ 80mph the z got 17-20mpg. Its astonishing, and not only am I happy to have my true drift car back, I also have much greater feelings for my beautiful Z

And the only catastrophe:

My back bumper hit one of those annoying reflectors in the middle of the road, so now I need a new back bumper.

If you loved your 240 she'd be wearing wheels with a decent offset and you would have moved it with a flatbed. :poke:

Kidding. At least she's got nice tails...for a hatch. ;)

Excuse me? Those enkeis have a decent offset. Unless your talkin bout the s2k wheels in the last picture? They're just on there so I can daily the enkeis on the z and slide the z22 wheels. Lol.

Also I didn't have the million dollars for a flat bead, this way only cost 45 for the hitch 30 for the ball and 75 for the trailer.

...And how much will the rear end cost to repair? I have to agree with BB. The rear end was scary low. Not my car but if it were, I wouldn't have towed it that way.

While I know you didn't intend to hit a reflector on the road and shred the rear bumper I'm wondering how much your cost savings are going to cost you in the long run. Still, you've got your car back...and it wouldn't be a 240 if there wasn't something to fix. :yesnod

Realax, it was a crappy origin knock off rear bumper and side skirts, I've been planning to replace them with legit ones anyways. Before I left I looke at at and thought to myself i might lose that bumper then I thought who cares, its a 50 dollar crappy fiberglass one.

Your welcome lol. It was a fun trip. I don't regret it at all, and I love knowing I can trailer my s13 or spair tires to events. Also Its pretty sweet seeing a z slide and seeing a hitch and ball on the back lol.

Also, did the "incident" happen at speed?. I've got this image of the car behind you seeing it all happen and totally going into panic mode. :ohno:

In a way it reminds me of the Miatas I see towing a trailer full of tires to and from auto-x events on the weekends. Not very often you see a Z or an MX5 with a hitch, let alone towing anything. Torque is good.

If you want FLAMED to a tiny little crisp, post the pics on ******.com. In fact, post them from the library computer. Make it anonomus. It is always real "hate" when they don't know who you are.

I'm thinking I'm going to go with an origin kit. It'll look the exact same, except I use legit parts, fail on previous owner.

Also it happened at like 85mph, there were 2 huge pieces hanging when I stopped to get gas, so I ripped them off. Had the bumper not been sagging on the one side due to crappy install I don't even think it would have hit.

I'm planning on getting a trailer to haul tires to drift events, or using my z to bring my s13 to drift events.

I'm not really trying to get flamed, I just thought some people would be impressed with what a z can do, also I knew alot of people would get a kick out of those pictures.

reminds me of the time my neighbor got a trailer hitch on his 09 c6 corvette and towed his boat with it. launched it in the lake and everything. the Z seems to have done the job intended. the corvette was a fail tho. dont spend $90K on a vette and tow your boat with it.

the best I could ever really muster out of anything with a VQ was like, 28mpg... and that was without a trailer.

I routinely get 26-27 mpg if I stay off throttle during my weekly commutes. I drive 130 miles a day and it's 95% interstate...Smurf's numbers reflect what I usually get.

So I'm guessing that gauge that tells you mpg if you hit the calculate button is incorrect? Because it was saying 31

Go by miles travelled from fill up to fill up.
Fill the tank, reset the trip odometer, drive around for a while til you need to buy gas again. Fill it up, take the number of gallons that went into it, and then divide the miles on your trip odometer by the amount of fuel used.

I don't know if I'd say incorrect as much as I'd say inconsistent. Calculating mpg the "old fashioned way" as PapaSmurf mentions has sometimes matched the trip computer mpg in experience, but more often it's been lower than what the computer has shown.

I only wish it were consistent. It could be a small variation in amount of fuel that goes in the tank at the time of fill up as I've noticed that some pumps have a much more aggressive cut-off on the nozzle, but I still feel it's mostly the computer.

Yeah even the volume of fuel in the filler neck from the tip of the fuel nozzle to the base of the shaft (heh, sounds like we're gettin dirty here) isn't very big at all in comparison to the amount of fuel that you put in the tank.

Say you fill up and your tank takes 14 gallons. I bet the differences in fuel cutoff from pump to pump is less than .1 gallon... which could throw your calculations off by a mere 0.7%

I was thinking about calculating fuel economy via filling the tank up and seeing how many miles/gallons because I used to do that on my trips up to pensylvania, my crappy tune on my sr once gave me 15mpg on the highway for 2000miles once, you can imagine how expensive that was lol, but the reason I didn't because I was a little stressed about this trip, afraid something was going to go very wrong or i was going to get pulled over, but my average was probably lower than that but I checked it a bunch of times, and I think on the flat parts it might have been getting that much.
