hey guys, i bought the car with a B & M short shifter already installed in there. I never had a B & M short shifter or know anyone else who does so i can't tell whether the noise is normal. The owner said it was, i just wanted to see if any other B & M owners are having the same noise. It only happens when I idle the car when i'm driving. Its sort of a buzzing noise, it happens from time to time.

do a search, it is a powerful thing.

some guy even posted a video of it. it happens at a certain a rpm levels. above 4000 i believe.

If i were you, i'd stick with a stock shifter. money spent on it, doesn't justify the benefits.

oh, once again, do a search.

B&M, at least mine, makes some noise at all rpm levels including Idle. Its not increadibly loud and most the time its drowned out by the stereo. but it does whir/buzz/rattle a bit

yea it depends on if its the newer model... the one i have vibrates with the resonance frequency at about 5-5.5k rpm

and I do believe the shifter is worth every penny.... firms up the feel so much,

My brother has a B&M on his supra before, and it got noise problem too. I guess it's normal for B&M. He had it for couple weeks and decided to change back to stock. Now he's putting in a C's shortshift. We'll see how that works.

Its just because The B&M is a solid piece of metal, all the vibrations from the transmission have nothing to dampen them like with the old shifter....it isn't bad though I could understand having a problem with it If it was in your brand new lexus...but any one who drives a 12 year old car probably doesn't have silence with the radio off, whats one more noise? it blends in good enough

I hate short shifters, I bought my first car, put an OBX in, hated it, popped out of gear a lot, and sold the car shortly after. Bought another 240 and figured it was just the cheap *** OBX that sucked so I bought a C's, traded it for a stock shifter plus cash. bought a mildly modded 240 later and it had a B&M. Felt really notchy and I didn't feel right shifting hard/fast in it so I ditched it. Have also driven a buddies del sol that had a stock GSR short shifter. They just feel awful to me
