I think I got the wrong ECU?

ya know, I went code hunting today after a no start, and my car ecu say 62, but I have a 96 blacktop S13....I dont think that is right...will this car work without the blacktop or do I need to get another computer.......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... like a power FC and commander

I have a E5 blacktop ECU running my Redtop but Im selling it soon (the ECU since I have a Power FC).

how much and how soon? where did you get your FC?

the only difference is the O2 sensor wiring, if I remember right if you use a red top ecu on a blacktop engine you need to ground one of the 02 sensor wires search up on it, because most likely your o2 sensor is not working and your engine will run rich.

i dont use an O2 sensor. I have never plugged one in on any swap that Ive done and the cars have always started. this one is not firing, no spark, got fuel, and the starter is going. The computer is not throwing any codes either. the light comes on and stays on. no flashing, not even a 55

Yea you can run without a O2. It will throw the ECU into a safe mod sorta but it works ( I had to do it until I figured out I had a E5 ECU and is wired different than my redtop SR o2.)

Also Id sell the E5 ECU for $160 seeing how the going rate on Ebay is about that if nto higher. So 160 + Shipping and its yours.

My Power FC cost me $799

I believe 62s are from 01/91-01/94 s13 redtops with a manual transmission...so if your 96 black has variable timing it prob wont work at all...

its an s13 blacktop from the later 180sx with the E5(stock ecu)not the J5? or the s14 sr.
