So I was selling some jerseys on eBay and this guy e-mails me asking me if I took money orders and if I could send the item out the next day and he sends out the money order the next day. First I told him no and I only take PayPal and then he kept e-mailing me about how he has 100% positive feedbacks and he needs it as a gift. I had a bad feeling about it but I agreed anyways.

So next day I send out the item out via USPS Priority mail. He e-mails me saying that he sent the money order via regular mail. I told him he'll recieve it in 2-3 days and he said cool, blah blah.

So 2 weeks later, I still haven't recieved my money order and everytime I tried e-mailing him, he won't respond. I don't know what to do next. I would report it to eBay but we didn't go thru eBay. I actually told him to "buy it now" but he said just end the item early..

I got his e-mail, his address, and his name.. What can I do with that? He's in Chatsworth, CA. I so want to drive 8 hours there and beat his *** or something.

You have proof of the transaction details in you email right? Report him to eBay and just make sure you use the emails to back you up. There's no disclaimer that says you take money orders at your own risk. They have protection against this type of stuff. Just fight it.

But the thing is we didn't go thru eBay. It was listed on eBay but he didn't do "buy it now" and just told me to end the auction early. :/

I feel stupid for doing that. Blah!

that'll teach you a lesson on ebay

get the money before anything.

you're lucky though, a jersey don't worth much but I have 2200$ stuck in one of my paypal account right now. I just received 1400$ on another account and **** I am afraid it might get frozen by paypal again.

It's okay, I guess. I got the jersey for free. But still.. I could've made some money off that.

Lesson learned!

Silkk you gonna let that guy own you like that? I'm telling you, even though you ended the auction early, you still listed it through ebay and got ripped off. At LEAST give it a shot by filing a complaint. If eBay just shrugs it off then burn the guy with the worst feedback you could ever give! If eBay does something about it then you get your $. I'd say its worth 5 minutes of your time to try.

I'd garuntee you that if you posted his name there's either somebody that knows him or isn't far from him so that once the address is found they can just drive like 30 minutes. You'd definitly get your money if you showed up on his door, or if anybody claiming to you showed up on his door.

I doubt that ebay will do anything about it, but it's worth filing a compaint. On the upside, we do have quite a number of members right in that area. Isn't Chatsworth somewhere right around Simi Valley? We definatly have members in that area.

Yeah, I filed a unpaid item dispute but I doubt they'll do anything about it.

{Sitting back, shaking his head}

eBay is full of victims on both sides of a transaction...why keep dealing with them? eBay is like a playground full of kids in the middle of a sexual predator's community. Whether you went through them directly is beside the point...they will find you because of your ad. I wish I had something helpful to say but I find that when dealing with eBay the screw factor is mighty high. Chalk it up to experience and move on to the next sale.

Ebay works great if you use it properly.

They tell you every time you send an email question to a seller or receive one from a potential buyer.... DO NOT make side deals! Once you agree to sell an item outside of Ebay's control (ending an auction early) you have NO recourse. Ebay will do NOTHING to help you. Also, they have warnings all over the seller pages warning you NOT to send the item until payment has been received.

I feel bad for this guy... but he did everything wrong. Next time he won't.

you can't leave feedback for a person on eBay unless they completely bought or sold through eBay.

and SILKK, unless you find him yourself (or with the assistance of NICO), then you're probably SOL unfortunately. Ebay doesn't have any incentive to believe you if you didn't follow their rules.

PS- The cars in your sig are just plain sick. My future 240 (except with s13 front end)

I didn't mean to come off like an a-hole... I was just saying now you've learned your lesson. People are scammers... unfortunately you can't trust ANYBODY... and Ebay tries pretty hard to eliminate fraud as much as possible if you follow all the rules. This buyer took advantage of your kindness, and that's 1 jersey worth of bad karma on his part!

Maybe if YOU don't find him and beat him down... somebody else will for some other reason. Instead of getting down on yourself for being scammed, rest easy knowing that this guy's a piece of crap and will definitely get what's coming someday. **** heads like this always find trouble one way or another...

Don't send out items to anyone unless you've been paid. I was screwed by a very prominent and active member on this forum. It's been over 2 years since and he's done pretty well for himself and still hasn't paid me back.

Speaking of prominent members and bad money situations... anybody ever hear from Adam (daunttless)? It's been a couple years since his shop went under... just curious if he ever bounced back.
