Something is amiss, because the inside is the same OR LOUDER than our GTP...... There is a decent amount of road noise and wind noise.......

At highway speeds, it has that sound like a window is cracked or a door is not fully closed....... Im not complaining about engine noise, because I like that........

Replace [expensive] the deformed [from age] window stripping, check the door hinge alignment [sagging doors]. Make sure all the TSB were followed on adding sound material behind mirror attchment point.

Use Radio Shack sound level meter [under $50] to find the noisey spots and fix them...............careful while driving and measuring........someone in back seat to help........moving to passenger seat to do those measurements.

Without doing all those things, is there anything else cheap I can do to make things better......?

Also, on the drivers side window, it goes up smooth, but when you press it down, it jumps for the first few inches, and then its smooth all the rest of the way...... I have tried to oil all the rails (inside the door) and everything window related, and it hasnt done anything.......

Wear hearing protectors! There is a TSB on window frame sealing.

Mr. Obvious make sure your sunroof is closed all the way. I was freaking out in my J one day and my girlfriend had to fix my car :)

Sunroof is closed fully, nice and flush with the rest of the body (although the back end seems to be slightly lower, no big deal though)...... The wind noise comes from the tops of the windows, so its probably something to do with those seals........

Wes. I have very little wind noise on my Q. Just a light hisss, from the windshield. I have a tiny piece of gasket under the chrome strip that seems to be coming up. I plan to "silicone" it back down, on a nice warm sunny day.

My sunroof is in the exact position yours is in.

Since I got the Sumitomo's on the front, the car is once again very quiet. I can now hear all the voices in my head, clearly.

Gotta go, one voice is telling me to go drive my car.

Good luck wiht the windows. I am fixing to buy a passenger side regulator, for mine (DOA).

Id say its more road noise than anything...... Wind noise is just a little hiss (sounds like a compressor when its turned off, that little inevitable leak), thats not the main concern.... The road noise is whats bad, IMO.....

Maybe my ears are just over sensitive!!!! Its not bad enough that Ive had anyone mention it or anything.....

The road noise I was hearing, was due to my tires. The NITTO's have extremely hard sidewalls, and the Sumitomo's have a softer sidewall. The NITTO's were feathering on the inside, causing a howl. I understand the directional tires are notorious for this.

My car does not handle as well (or so it seems), but the ride is much smoother, and quieter.

I am going to pump up the pressure a couple of PSI, to see if it helps the performance, with out increasing the noise.

Noise is a function of tread pattern, tread material, tire, suspension condition, tire carcass construction, speed, and road surface, but not tire pressure within the correct specified ranges.

No feathering on my directional XGTV or dB, but I flip to rotate.__________________Brian1995 Q45 & Q45t & 2000 Q45

Do you actually dismount the tire?, or do you rotate the directional tread, so it is actually the wrong direction, ro do you just swap the fronts to the back and the backs to the front?

I have 2 brands different tires on the front and back (they have all the same size and ratings), so I may swtch them and see if I notice anything.....

I dismount flipping side to side, rotating front to back, keeping all tires rotating in the original direction only. I am repeatedly told by every tire expert this is no longer necessary.

My only complaint is my AVS db aren't wearing fast enough, nor are they feathering in the least. These are not S2, either. Looks like I'll be stuck with them another 7K - 10K miles when the tread will (hopefully) be half used at 24K - 27K.__________________Brian1995 Q45 & Q45t & 2000 Q45

Well, I just took the Q for a spin, and it was on mainly country roads..... I moved around the cabin as much as I could (while driving), and it definitely seems as if its coming from the seals......

Anyone have any idea how much it is to replace those seals????? Thing is, they feel perfectly pliable......

Any idea on my window situation????

The seals should be cheap and it should be a really really easy fix. Univeral ones are availible along with ones you can obviously order for your specific application.

I might be able to replace the weather strips around the doors with universal stuff, but Id have to get the window seals from Joe, and I bet they're not cheap either......

I've heard that the Wurth brand dressings actually cause the rubber to swell a bit - that may be all you need. I really haven't noticed any serious decay in the weather stripping on my Qs, but she's lived in a more temperate climate than Indiana...

You get Wurth from a Wurth salesman..........most [many] of the decent automotive products are not sold at discount national chains........they only want to stock the low priced stuff as that is where the market is............secret is that premium tire dressing works pretty well.......messier but cheaper.

Alright.... I adjusted the window up a little.... It goes down smoother, but the noise isnt any better (thanks Heath for all your help last night!!)....

Weather strips seem to be in good condition, the window seal makes a pretty good seal now..... I dont know if I have ultra sensitive ears, but its starting to really get annoying....

Actual road noise isnt too bad (only at high speeds) but it just doesnt sound like something is missing..... BTW, I noticed what the bottom door seal (right above the drains) on the drivers side is missing...... I couldnt imagine this making that much difference though.....

Which seal is it? If you can post a pic. it would help... But in any case it wouldn't have been there before if it didn't serve a purpose? Tried my idea of having someone tape you in yet?

The seal I was talking was the seal on the bottom of the door seperate from the weather strip going around the whole door.....
