i think i fried my o2 sensor circuit

i have a post up about which wires to splice in........welll i was pretty sure i that the blue wire from the z32 o2 sensor(ecu signal) spliced into the white wire from the original wiring........after doing this i started the car i could smell something funny..........like something fried.......... and the car made a small backfire and the revs jumped a little bit but then it all smoothed out.....is it possible to **** something up wiring it in wrong? i think i was supposed to splice the blue wire into the center black wire............**** i shouldve never touched anything..........does anyone know if i fried something?
