I think I blew the PFC this evening. I was trying to wire up my stock maf and then a wire sparked and then the middle (green) relay on the pass side was rapidly clicking.

First I unhooked the pos/neg batt cables and reconnected them.

Then I swapped the PFC out and put in the stock ECU and the relay stopped clicking.

I then swapped the PFC back in and sure enough the relay began clicking rapidly again. Didnt matter whether the commander was plugged in or not.

So I must have done something to the PFC unit. I opened it up and there were no visual signs of damage like burn marks or anything toasted.

So now what do I do? Does Apexi service their products? Or have I just lost $900?

Thanks,Daniel

If you didn't buy it from a Apexi Dealer in the "USA" they are going to tell you to go kick rocks.

Even if I just want to pay them to service it? I wasn't intending on pulling the "warranty" scam.

absolutely ---everyone must worship this rule.

anyhow, check for short fuse(s)....maybe the PFC has a anti-short-circuit protection point some where (fuse, jumper)...etc....

Sorry man, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but your pretty much SOL. First of all, APEXi usa does not deal with gray market nor offer any kind of support for gray market products. That was one of my big reasons for buying through usa branch. Second, they don't "service" products. If something is damaged under warranty, they simply replace the unit and ship the item back to japan if its even cost effective. I think they JUST started servicing coilovers and even then, i could be wrong. Your only hope is to have them be the middle man in sending the unit back which i highly doubt because then they will be taking responsibility upon themselves for the safe transports, shipment, etc. Best of luck!

and on a side note, i've been seeing quite a few "didnt disconnect the battery while messing with wires threads" can't stress it enough especially seeing things like this happen.

Also, after you disconnect the battery make sure you step on the brakes and turn the ignition on. That will help drain some of the stored electricity from the various electronic devices.

Why would you try to wire something with the battery connected? The FIRST rule of working on ANY electrical systems is to disconnect the power source. It helps keep any and all electrical components from being fried as well as the user.

Anyways, good luck...

Thanks, I get the point. I knew that rule, the only reason was that there is no info on the Q45 maf, so I was trying to wire based on the PFC Commanders display of MAF voltage.

Emange E-list. Has the pin ID for the Q45 MAF. I thought I posted it on the forum before. It might have been lost when they redid it tho.

I hate unplugging the battery. I once wired in a standalone system w/o unhooking the battery until the last couple wires were connected and it worked fine

I don't like losing the programming of my radio stations!

I'm trying to find an RB25 owner nearby so I can test my PFC on their car, to confirm whether I blew the PFC or just toasted a wire somewhere.

Even if you did find someone close I don't think they would let you throw it in there car. First of all if you think you blew it it possibly could have shorted something else on your car. It might be putting a ground where it needs power vise versa. Therefore when you want to test it out on someone elses car it ends up frying their stuff. You would need to find someone who doesn't give a **** about their rb25 to let you test it on their ride. Or you could break into someones car and pop it in really quick and see what happens, good luck. I sell B&E tools of ya need em!-Alex

The PFC worked fine until I tried to wire the stock maf back in. Therefore it wasnt the PFC being hooked up that caused the PFC to malfunction, it was me miswiring the maf.

Are you going to Battleground's meet this Sunday? I might go, if I do, you can test your Power FC in my car. I already have a power fc, so its just plug and play---no extra wire

You've fed 12v to the AFM input signal or the supply to ground.. = POOF!Ceck, check and triple sheck wiring.. and you can't have a problem. there are heaps of wiring diagrams around.

You won't get it fixed unless you brought it from an AUTHORISED dealer (like us!)
