i have the HUD on my s13, yes it does work. i think it's cool and a nice feature...

but, why is it so far to the left? you have to take your eyes off the road to see it. i think it should be in front of the driver, not 3-4 inches from the left side. it's not really useful

I kinda like it, but I have an S14 so I don't have one.

there's no way to transplant the thing elegantly, is there? I mean, I know DEFI makes something like that, but that's real money.

i don't even like the digital dash, it takes longer to see how fast you're going than a normal gauge.

the hud is awesome, you never have to take your eyes off the road cause its right in front of you, so what if you have to look to the left a little bit, youre still looking forward, its not like you have to look down or anything

Consider that a 2003 Corvette ZO6 uses a hud screen. Very similar to the one in your 15yr old car.

It took em that long to catch up

corvette had hud as an option in 1999. gm used hud in the late eighties and early 90's on the grand prix, cutlass, and bonneville. gm apparently wanted to use hud on the C4 but it wouldn't work in the space behind the cluster. the C5 hud is centered in front of the driver, the S13 hud is waaaay to the left of the driver.

I'm sure someone will swap you clusters and dash. If you'd rather have the analog, just post up in the Classifieds.

how long have you had your s13? you big whiner

I got used to my HUD right away. It's useful in keeping your eyes on the road, because you use your periphal vision to monitor your speed. PLUS the HUD dash means your tach is in the center! And that's where it should be dammit! And i had an analog dash go on me on my 93'' corolla, so this is a nice change of pace. IMO, i think it's more annoying to squint at the tiny #'s on the speedo than the almost 2'' high display on your windsheild.

And i get tons of questions, i.e.: 'what the hell is that? ..it's cool!'

And if it ever goes on me, i have an electrical engineer major for a bf, or i'd get a hookup like the one that was on rollhard.com. Not too expensive considering how much nissan would probably want.

your peripheral vision must be better than mine, i can see that it's there but can't read the numbers. i gotta look left for speedo then right to see my blitz blm water temp gauge in the center vent.

there is one instance the hud is useful, but having hud caused the problem to begin with. the sun sometimes makes the digital dash speedo unreadable but luckily i can always read the hud speedo no matter where the light is.

maybe i should just buy tires and a radiator for my Q and use that as my daily.

it is too far to the left, i have it on my s13....and when i look at the hud to the left, i can see the digital readout on the cluster in the corner of my eye, plus half the t ime i like to use the tach to get an idea how fast im goin. it is a nice feature tho, but i dont use it much

Too far to the left "elegent proposed solution:

Use mirrors :-D.

If you line up 2 mirrors, one to angle the number to the right, then one to shoot it up right in front of you. You can get a piece of tint and put it there.

Solved.

Or you can physically move it. Either make a new hole or get an analog dash and make a hole in that.

I would personally want all sorts of crap displayed on my windshield, rpms, oil pressure, oil temp, etc. So I can feel like a jet fighter pilot, haha.

not to mention, seeing 115 in digital is soo much more satisfying than seeing a needle hit the same speed.

also, you can have fun with your friends, switch it to KPH on the highway when they are not looking and freak them out
